The iboats forum moderators are excited to announce that at this time it appears the iboats forums posting pictures function is working once again. Though we cannot promise for how long, we're hoping for indefinitely.
aaarrrrgghhhhhh... seems to be a case of "maintained by moron"..... swapped 4/6 plug wires back to where they are supposed to be, and lo and behold the engine idles and runs much better on the hose at least. (yes, I had checked it before, but it still eluded me.....) Before it was a little...
had more than one motorcycle tank that looked good inside, (even cleaned a few with muriatic acid) and they still turned the gas orange. keep an eye on the filter, and change as needed..... bout all you can do.
my first thought is rust...... even just a fine surface layer is enough to come off and turn things rusty orange looking..... plenty of areas you cant see in a tank that can/will harbor the stuff....
Ill double check the fuel system. Flappers I would not think are an issue. I have plenty of evidence of exhaust coming out the back of the boat both on shore and in the water.
Engine runs "great" at idle and up to about 1500 rpm, then it falls flat on its face. Fuel pump is an electrical, and...
yes. firing order is correct
ok, Ill admit... I went and checked AGAIN.... I had 4 and 6 reversed.... that will cause an issue.... Ill report back once I fire it up again... It should run MUCH better now both on muffs and in the water.... I have to wait for another water test, I kind of...
ok, finally got the '95 Four Winns (4.3 chevy with an SX in drag hanging on the transom) off the dock yesterday, only to find out it WILL NOT rev past about 1500 rpm in gear. In neutral it revs out fine..... so something is amiss in the engine department. (Prop is the standard 14.5x21 pitch it...
its gonna come down to part numbers, which the seller conveniently didnt list..... as I said, the seller didnt bother to ship properly, and has a few other sets of the same rams listed currently..... since Mercruiser changes part numbers like I change my underwear, there is probably some obscure...
ok, I got had on Ebay.... bought a set of trim rams that were advertised as for a Alpha One XD, but the part number comes back as Bravo rams (98703A26, 98704A26).... the bushings are ginormous on this, and as such my through bolts are too short....
Seller does not accept returns, and shipped...
trust me, I tend to agree with you.... its just for millions of folks that dont have a choice but to live in a metropolitan area, HOA's are the standard, and not the exception.....I would rather staple my johnson to the floor and fiberglass it down than live under an HOA..... but there is an...
while not forced, there is often little choice in the matter. Out here, you want a new(ish) home, you get saddled with an HOA... the developers and municipal governments LOVE them for some reason. I bought an older home (1950 built) and away from the main metropolis just for no HOA.... even...
cheap parts will bite you.... I just replaced a less than three year old set of bellows because I went "cheap" chinesium parts..... I replaced with Sierra this time..... much thicker rubber, so hopefully will last better.... and were really no more expensive than the Chinesium crap from the...
according to Mercruiser service bulletins, these pumps are non-serviceable as per Prestolite. Aside from o-rings, there are no parts available, and the specs for the pop-off spring settings are not published in the service manual... that said, yeah, I took mine apart to see if it was just a...
yeah, I spent the last few days in the manual trying to make it not be the pump...... but its the pump... I pulled it off this morning and opened it up... full of crap, and the shuttle valve that controls the release of "up" side pressure in "down" mode is jammed solid.... no amount of...
I dont have access to a gauge, but I am getting good flow out of a disconnected line. There are no pipe plugs in the valve body. Someone before me had dicked with the check valves in the control body, so that could still be dorked up, That said, there is no restriction in the control valve on...
motor runs in both directions. from what I can tell, the check valve on the "up" side is not releasing pressure for the fluid to return to the reservoir. No amount of banging on it has freed it up, its stuck GOOD..... pressure and flow are good, once you provide a "return" (cracked loose hose)...
sounds good. I will need to physically leave the disconnected lockout there though, it acts as a fulcrum point for the upper/lower shift cable connection..... that is no biggie though....if the hose connections are the same 1/8 inverted flare, then its easy peasy electrically....
ok, if there is a more appropriate area mods, please move this....
boat and trim system in question is a 1980 Galaxy with a 120 Merc engine/drive combo (MC-1 IIRC)
the trim WILL NOT go down on the switch.... I have traced it to a likely stuck shuttle valve on the "up" circuit that is not...
ok, for the record, a workaround to the seemingly "proprietary" nuts here is this.... use a 1/4" standard ferrule, and a 1/4" inverted flare nut.... works just like the original, but you can get them locally.... the angles in the fittings are compatible, and will compress the ferrule for a...
2900 is good, but this pump only does 800 on the down side (OLD prestolite pump spec from manual) I will just replace the whole damn fitting into the pump and reverse lockout, as long as I can get the proper thread pitch. I won’t try to seal a standard ferrule into this, just in case the angles...
