The iboats forum moderators are excited to announce that at this time it appears the iboats forums posting pictures function is working once again. Though we cannot promise for how long, we're hoping for indefinitely.
while electric cars may have a place, with current technology, there is no place (IMHO) for electric boats. The battery technology that works "best", lithium batteries, react VIOLENTLY with water under the right circumstances, which arent hard to get to. In another life, I worked offshore doing...
without getting too political, they have been doing the same thing here in the west with the temperatures... first they lower the threshold for a "dangerous heat warning" to just under 100*... and then we have a "Dangerous heat warning" every day for the whole summer.... its been well over 100*...
well, lets put a pin in this one. Took the boat out for a water test this morning after swapping the plug wires and replacing the fuel filter. The boat now has NO ISSUES with power. comes on plane nicely, and had it up to about 40 mph according to the speedo. Now time to take care of the...
I usually just replace "like with like".... last one I did was just 2x6 lumber bolted to the trailer and covered with indoor/outdoor carpet. I used stainless hardware, and non-pressure treated lumber from the local Home Despot. If it lasts another 20+ years, ill be ecstatic, but if not, they...
a flat one is relatively easy to get remade by a competent glass shop. A curved one like on my Four Winns, while it looks good, is a right pain in the ass....
if your windshield is like the one on my Four Winns, its made by WaterBonnet... I dont know if they are still in business, but if they are, maybe try contacting them and see if they have any options. Boat windshields arent known for changing a heck of a lot over time, so you may get lucky.
if...
the actual running timing is 100% controlled by the electronic module in the distributor. What you are setting (and needs to be set) is the "base (sometimes called static) timing" which gives the distributor module a known point to advance and retard the timing from. It runs on electronic tables...
here in the west, we have long ramps that were "originally" intended to go well below water level, however many of our lakes are in a severe drought status, and the "long" ramps are now by and large above water again..... driving on with any power just degrades the dirt at the end of the ramp...
good luck with that one passing muster. They can set a "no wake" zone around their property, usually a certain distance out, but around these parts, the lake belongs to the state, and THEY set when you can run on it, not anyone else. That group would be promptly told to pound sand, and any...
most likely exactly what it is, a relay. Red is likely 12v power, white is 12v triggered, and the blacks are grounds. you will need to check the manual for your engine/boat to be 100% sure though
I usually try to take the time to document what the issue was.... my last problem was the boat would idle fine, but no power, and wouldnt plane out... I had grand illusions of cubic dollars being spent to fix the damn thing, when it ended up being a pair of crossed plug wires..... yeah, I...
sounds like the DNR (or your state equivalent) needs to let them know that anything they come up with is entirely unenforceable outside of their own little fiefdom. And good luck with them "enforcing" anything on non-members. It seems the "Lake HOA" needs to have their egos checked a little.
given the year of the trailer, the original MFG has likely long gone the way of the dodo. You will need to fabricate or have fabricated that new piece. You are in luck though, as what has crapped out appears to just be a simple section of box tubing with the roller brackets welded onto the ends...
the 2.5 morphed into the 3.0 which was used for MANY years after the 2.5 went the way of the dinosaur. Internal engine hard parts, such as what you are looking for are likely the same or interchangeable with the 3.0 of at least some vintages, and also automotive equivalents. This does not apply...
Agreed on power loading, hence why I USUALLY dont do it (our lake is up high enough at the moment that erosion is not an issue, there is still another 200 feet of concrete under us at the moment). I pull the boat on manually with lines after walking it on/off the trailer. one of the local ramps...
one of my boats has (had...) side bunks, the other does not. I really dont see much advantage to them, aside from a little better guidance to centering the boat when power loading.... It may be just me, but I dont have a problem centering either boat on its respective trailer...
are there...
