    Where did you get the gasket kit from? A 1/2 an hr is about how long it takes a crappy chinese kit to swell.

    You are talking about balancing the carbs. Only 4 strks get balanced.

    It is more than a set of cables. The whole shifting and throttle set up are different for the tiller motor. That drive shaft is expensive because they break a lot.

    Buy a set of controls for it and sell it. If you don't have the tiller parts it can get expensive

    I live in WI so when I was growing up that 55 was a motor that people were skiing behind. Maybe it was all the shifting that caused those failures.

    In Wisconsin it was always easier to find a powerhead than a lower unit for those motors.

    looks like a bad gasket or an overheat warped the plate. will need to remove to find out.

    Just a weak lower unit from the 25 or 35 hp motors was used on them.

    That is normal for a 7os Mercury. You will be lucky if only those 2 wires are bad.

    Might want to look again. Take the red cover off. See the felt wick? Pretty sure that is for points.

    I think it's the same as the force 50s. I don't think they ever fixed it.

    The 150 is a 5 cylinder with 3 carbs and 1 of the carbs feeds only 1 cylinder. Complete oddball made for around 2 yrs. The 55 hp uses the lower unit off of the smaller engines a known problem with those.
