Re: Vulcarity
I always laugh my arse off when I hear statements about how just because you are older doesn't mean you know more. With age comes wisdom, period. While it is true that some young people can and do have above average intelligence, they still don't have the life experience. For some reason they get horribly defensive about that, and act like life experience means nothing. It all stems from some inferiority complex, or they still have that teenage mindset that makes them impatient.

All I can say is, I was pretty damn smart at 20, had been through a lot at 20, and looking back I now know I didn't know squat. It happens to everyone, no one is immune to it. You can't beat years under the belt, unless you have a time machine somewhere.

And by the way, freedom of speech does not trump disturbing the peace. We all have the right to live in peace, and if you really honestly think you can go into a public place and start screaming and cussing your arse off and think you are covered under the constitution, you are mistaken. How long do you think it would take before the cops are called? Also, and I don't know why you don't understand this, a public school can and does set policy. When you enroll your child in that school, you are giving them permission to enforce policy. Policy is in place to benefit the student body, not a swill-mouthed individual brat. The tax payers fund this school to teach our children, not to let them run rampant. As a parent, you have the right to refuse corporal punishment, or not have them go to school, thats it.

Speaking of tax payers, most would agree that they want their children in a clean, well run school. How many levies do you think would be approved to fund a school that allows swearing and general mayhem. The school would be closed within a year. How does that benefit anybody? You can hate authority and laws and rules and be all cool and anarchistic and nonconformist if you want, but you'll always be on the losing end of that battle. If you do choose to have kids and raise them as you propose, you are dooming them to an existence on the fringes of society, and that is the most miserable failing a parent can do.
