1978 18' General Marine "Ranger" 305 Chevy Volvo 280 stern drive
My Grandfather bought her new and I grew up with it on Big Bear Lake in Ca. In 1999 it was "sunk" in storage (parked with plug in it) in 2001 I slapped a horribly done floor over the rot and got it kind of running. Ran it that way until 2004 when it was just to bad to take out. 2007 it got stripped down, new stringers, new floor, new carpet, I upholstered the bow myself and bought some really nice seats. the seats never got mounted and I ran out of money. Fast forward to Memorial day weekend this year, and my wife was nice enough to promise the family it will be on the water for the 4th of July this year. It was her way of kicking me in the a**. So it went into the shop, for new gauges and a tune up. Well there is a leak in the transom so the motor and drive came off it this morning for the repair. The transom is actually in very good shape for the age. While it is there they are doing the bellows and going through the outdrive, motor tune up, spark plugs, wires, hoses, belt, fuel pump, starter, alternator, carb rebuild, filters, new gauges, new gauge senders, and I just picked up a huge odysey battery (1150CCA 205 min reserve marine). It will not be pretty for the 4th, but it should run beautiful. After the 4th I will have to get a new motor cover built as the plywood box is a little cheap looking, finish up the side interior panels, and get the gel coat redone so it looks nice.
