Flipped and Primed?
I remember a long session of cleaning and stripping paint off of that massive hull, but I sure don't remember any priming...
Last time I looked there were a bunch of shiny new reevits getting punched in it and a bunch of fresh tinluminimium patches everywhere...
Man, H2Odude...you move fast...:bolt:
Very nice!:D

Hey thinks for buzzing by my dry dock guys, I appreciate the encouragement. My garage smells pretty strong right now, maybe I'll run to home depot and look for some Teak oil... :joyous:

Had some sort of issue with my computer this morning, nothing was loading up here at iboats site and it was sooooo ssssslooooow. It seems all is well now. :D

It can't be that sssslllllloooooooowwwww! Really still not up to par, I'm sure the IT guys are working on it.

Hey WetGuy - anything is better than spray bombs! The stern patches are blending nice with paint over them.

Jeez he stuck his chin out for that one!

Yeah I hate using spray cans, it's not only expensive it's very time consuming and wrought with peril... uneven coverage, runs & sags in others and a huge vapor cloud. The HVLP is 110% better and you can use the catalyst hardener. Although on clean up I give the rattle cans the nod.

I can't wait to get the final paint coats on, I have gallons of paint stocked up for the job. :painkiller:

The IT minions were probably doing some of the last minute stuff to try to roll out the new iboats forum stuff. No idea what changes are coming, but I hear there's a few changes a comin' :)

Additional boat rebuilding supplies (sorry but the new stuff is probably not of any use to a tin builder :cold:) IS among the changes....

So here's the plan, tonight I shot the first coat on the bottom of the Chief below the seam, including the bow and keel plate with some of the industrial/tractor alkyd in aluminum color. 16oz paint, 1 oz catalyst hardener and 2 oz naphtha. It went on like silk, filling all the little scratches and pits. If you don't have good enough tin to put a buffer on it but you want the look, then this is the way to go in my book. One more shoot tomorrow and then on to the sides after dry time.

I plan on shooting the sides gloss white and then do an accent stripe? My thought for the rest is to shoot the gunnels blue, transom cover and bow cover with blue but I haven't got the shade nailed down yet. I think I will just leave the cabin white as well but not set in stone.

Water, that alum paint is looking sharp. I can't say I have ever had any luck with that color on anything I tried painting with it. It always seemed to come out thick and splotchy mixed with thin an runny, same luck with bright orange. Your paint job looks nice and even. Nice.

Nice finish...if I hadn't witnessed the before and after, I would have thought you just cleaned and polished the bottom...Awesome!

Looks real good agua, same as above looks like bare aluminum. I too have never had any luck with that color, once dry it always seem every time you touch it ii rubs off. It's been a long time since I've used it so maybe it has changed. Looking forward to seeing the blue you choose.

Oh yeah I enjoyed all the comments on the swim ladder, thanks for the replies. I was also leaning towards the teak as was the admiral. Looks like I need to break out the sander and spar!
Just a thought, and something that worked well for me, Go to Wallyworld and get some of the Hull cleaner in the blue bottle with green label, it contains oxalic acid which is what the pros use to clean teak and redwood, makes the wood look like new without sanding and then you can seal it all up. In case you couldn't tell, the teak and stainless would be my choice too. Sorry for the late reply

Paint work is looking great! I love the Blue and white idea for the topside. I seem to like the blue and white combo for some reason, Oh yea....I have two of them :peace: LOL I know what you mean about having a hard time choosing the blue, it took me a while, I had a hand full of paint chips  Thank goodness I didn't have to choose on two boats ( the Bayliner still looked good enough when I bought it to not repaint)
