Re: The search for a free (or nearly free) Starcraft!

So.....I was talking with the admiral tonight and she asked me what I wanted for Christmas. I told her I want a new Ford Superduty with the Powerstroke diesel :D. She said that's out of her price range. I said okay, I want a Starcraft. She says they are to expensive and I tell her they practically give them away in Michigan! So I'm on the hunt for another Starcraft, 16 feet or larger. I think I would prefer an outboard this time but for a good price I would buy anything. I think going to pick up a Starcraft would make for a great family vacation :D Somewhere in the midwest would be preferred as I don't have alot of vacation to use due to our wedding coming up in April.

Since you've got the big cruiser boatnut, I'd hold out for an SS.

I think I have to agree with ez. We have the big cabin cruiser for long weekends on the lake and we have our deckboat that works perfect for skiing and tubing. With that said I would like a fishing boat and an open bow would be a plus. I'm in no hurry to get one, just thought I would throw it out there since it's winter now and people are more willing to sell them cheap. Unless of course I get that Super Duty under the tree this year, but I won't hold my breath on that one.

You better find this BEFORE the wedding. LOL And congrats. So a 16 ft up with an O/B in the Midwest. Open bow? - Yes

Lol. I would prefer an open bow, yes. I agree on before the wedding, it is going to be EXPENSIVE, but she's worth it and you only get married once (I hope)

Looks like a mariner? He would have to drop the price in half for me to consider that. Seems it would be way underpowered to.

That would be a good deal. The motor is a little old for my liking but I could probably sell it and the trolling motor and have a nearly free Starcraft :D
Is that a Jupiter or Holiday? Looked at the brochures but couldn't tell.

I'll call on that one in the morning. Might get lucky?

That first one looks like a glasser.

Gonna pass on this on being it's a glasser.

Called on this one and he didn't seem to know much about it. I asked if he could look at the capacity plate to see what model it is and he said "it's to old it won't have one" even though I told him where to look. I think I would rather have an open bow to start with.

Called and left a message on this one. Fingers crossed.

Good deal but I have no idea where Chico is??

Inboard with a bad motor, I would rather have an outboard this go round.

Nice one but no price listed, probably out of my price range right now.

Like I said before I'm in no hurry and will hold out for an open bow outboard. I plan on going to look at a 140hp Mercury outboard today that I can pick up for a song.

Yah, the nearly free OB SuperSport will be a tough find, but with patience, she'll show herself. I'm on the lookout for ya Drew.

I wouldn't mind spending a little more for the boat I want. Found this one but it's a little out of my price range right now, and I think it's a little overpriced. http://salina.craigslist.org/boa/2733483357.html

I wouldn't mind finding a Holiday and turning it into a Super Sport ;)

There is something to be said for a package that includes a nice running OB.

Including closed bow boats certainly gives ya way more options - though UPS the build challenge too.

I wonder how low he would go on that SS? What do you think a fair price is if the motor checks out? 1200-1500? Still out of my price range but I put some stuff up on c-list to make a few bucks.

Yah, I don't believe he'd go that low. But if he did I think it'd be worth it.
