Do tell...:D (is it a 14 footer that they offered a layaway option on until May? just a guess)

You saw that one too eh??!

Nice, but nope.

I do have a solid bite and I'm hoping to set the hook here in a day or two.

If I land her, I'll need my heavy duty can opener.:D

Haven't been thru that neck of woods lately...I will see what I can do this weekend. We are getting a nice dose of snow as I type this, and my Explorer is awfully fun to drive this time of year.:D

Might need to shovel snow off her to get a photo:)

Re: The search for a free (or nearly free) Starcraft!

Speaking of pics Barato,

wish i had some progress to post pix OF. things slowed to a crawl b4 holidays as we drove 1000 miles each way to do the extended-family thang. i thought i was gonna be able to get back on it this week, but an old friend needs a place to live and i'm letting he and his 70 yr old mom move into my mother-in-law apt/boat house after i fix it up.......... so there goes my boat workshop, and there goes my boat time and $ for a bit. tradeoff is that i'll have a great 2d mechanic in residence to help me. but the best i've been able to do lately is sit in cockpit to drink a beer and promise her that i'll treat her better this year........(she tells me that i lie and that the last guy told her the same thing....) :-(

Did she know in advance, or find out after the fact? Hide the frying pans, tell her how wonderfull she is. Actually that should have been done in advance. I call it the pre-planning stage, it's after you decided on a second boat but before you bring it home.

January is boat buying month here in Michigan! Congratulations and pictures please.

Yah, she and I had the talk a very long time ago that I'd need a smaller boat to run the river and smaller lakes around. She totally agreed (back then). She was just shocked to see it rolling up the drive! She was a bit caught off guard is all.

I made things all better though. She has been wanting me to renovate the kitchen for a while now so I immediately walked out to the garage and grabbed some tools. I just finished up knocking out a wall that separates the kitchen from the living room (now a great room).

She is as happy as a lark now! Nothing but smiles:):):) All is right in the world again:)

Funny, I emailed on a boat today. Mine's a closed bow, glasser, 14 footer (SC). I'll start showing some interest then see if I can get him to bite on a low offer. This may take a month, but hey gotta work the plan, right Jas.

Congratulations on the new boat.

Now get the sawz-all.

Here's why I haven't scored a sweet flat-back canoe yet...they're priced in the same range as a 16' SS:rolleyes::facepalm:

I hear ya Mike! Loud and clear!

Here is why I didn't end up with a decent 14' utility, $2250 with a 5hp on it...

Sheesh.

And a 16' open bow is usually in that same price point.

So, looks like I'll just build one. AOK by me.

Re: The search for a free (or nearly free) Starcraft!

Wow it comes with a 12 lb electric too.

I'm thinking of going glass. I've seen a couple of little Starcraft glassers that will do the job for me just fine. Even found a Pere Marquette 14' glasser. I really want a 14' with a steering wheel. Tinnie Holiday for cheap would be perfect, but they go for an arm and a leg. I can't believe it, I guess that's the sweet spot, 14 foot.

I need some lessons on negotiating Jason. I can a handle used car salesman fine, I actually enjoy it! Friendly bartering with the average Joe over his boat, not so good. How do you get these deals? Vulcan mind control?
