I'm not sure this group (me) is patient enough for 2011!:eek:

Dude, anytime is a good time to haul a Starcraft home!:D

I can tell you from experience that if you end up dragging one home after a monster January snowstorm you will get "special" looks from the folks sharing the roadway with you:D

January is the best time to buy a Starcraft! I think we got ours a day apart Jas. Snow covered boats are cheaper too! As a bonus if a trailer bearing goes out, it'll just slide on home. No heat buildup on those bearings either. As a super manly bonus, people look at you like you're some kind of freak.

Yea I'm towing a boat down I-75 in a snowstorm, and no my wife doesn't know I bought it. Wanna make something of it. People stared but wouldn't really make eye contact with me. I took a half dozen punches on my man card that day. I felt like Red Green on steroids.

Yah Don that was pretty stinkin cool! I was gritting my teeth the whole way home fearing a blow out. The whole way snow machines on trailers passing me by saying "look at this idiot". I'm cool with that:D

Greg, you need to start looking for size appropriate rigs for you man! You already have a little one, now you need a big one!

I will say this, you could buy that glasser, throw it away, sell the trailer, fix the motor and sell it and make some money. Big hassle though. Unless you wanted to put that 75 on your 14':eek:

Re: The search for a free (or nearly free) Starcraft!

Well, I'm not seeing a whole lot out there these days for crazy low dollars. I did make an offer on this one...

I know it's not a Starcraft but I really like that big deep hull. Anyway, I was shooting low and he was shooting high - no way we were going to meet somewhere in the middle.

Lately I have really been thinking that I might go for a 14' deep v - just like the one that MichaelP put up there^^^^

I really loved the one I had, awesome rig...

It would be great to bolt on an OB tiller an go fishing! Seems like a rebuild on a fourteener would go lightning fast with no consoles, way less wood, no controls, less painting, and on...

Funny thing is I can prolly find an 18' for less $$$ than most 14'.

Ah, we'll see how things shake out.

Cheers guys!

I know I can get this one for $250...

Re: The search for a free (or nearly free) Starcraft!

I'm amazed at how much the 14 footers go for. I did see a 14' Lund rowboat for $275, no trailer. I still have the trailer from the flatbottom.

I would like a closed bow Holiday type, or even an American 15 footer (so pretty). Fiberglass does scare me a little though, stringers, transom. I'm looking and kind of not looking. As always I reserve the right to change my mind, for no good reason.

Good luck with your MBS Jason. Remember the cure is far worse than the disease.

If it's south of Detroit maybe I can give a hand with the transporting.

Thanks Don!

Yah, I was nosing around on clist and seeing 14 footers any where from $1500 to $3500!!! Sheesh!

You aren't seriously thinking about a glasser are ya?

Jas here is what I think is an 18SS in your neckof the woods, listed for $400. but I bet with the time of year $300. takes it.

I'd love an 18 footer but they are just a hair too big for river fishing around my place. A 16 would be as big as I can go to comfortable fish the spring walleye run. Seems like I see more 18 footers than 16 though, good deals to be had on that size I think!

Thanks for the heads up!

Rock on dudes!

The American is a very nice looking boat, Chinewalker did two of these. I might go over to the itchy side for one of those. I really want a Feathercraft but, they are a bit pricey.

The most practical thing for me to do is finish up the Offshore before doing anything else. If the right deal comes along though........

Check your PM.

Re: The search for a free (or nearly free) Starcraft!

Hi all,
been surfing the forums for a while, finally decided to register. I have been looking for a boat, and you guys here made me decide on a starcraft. bad part is I am in SoCal and they are either hard to find or expensive out here. Envious of you out in the midwest and beyond, much better deals out there
