Re: The search for a free (or nearly free) Starcraft!

I can only go 14 foot maximum. I might have a line on a 1960 G3 Glasspar. I found a 1956 Glass Magic with a 58 Evinrude that goes with it too. I'm still looking around, taking my time.

The Offshore is my work-horse, the fishing machine. I want a little cruiser next, a 50's or 60's fiberglass. Maybe even with fins, I don't know. I want to try my hand at a little glass boat next.

Plus when the Offshore is completed, I want to break 50 MPH in her. That's a project for after the second boat is finished. A little speed never hurt anyone. One thing I always hated was a 30-45 minute ride across the lake to your good spot. WAhhhhhhhhh 40 minutes later we're on the Canadian side in Mitchells bay. How bout 15 minuets.:D That's what I'm talking about.

Thanks for thinking of me Jas.

That's tempting. I could put the 10 horse johnson on it and be fishing in a week or two or four. Then concentrate on the Offshore. Get a second boat in the fall when prices drop again. Hmmmmmm........... I won't know what I'll do until I do it.

Yah man, at $125 that is silly cheap!!! 12 and 14 footers around our neck of the woods typically go at a premium man. I don't think that one will last very long.

I got my 52 14 footer semi Vee from an older gentleman For the princely sum of $50, with Original trailer & Jetco 2 speed trolling motor. He re did the trim in the late 70's with Redwood, but 30 years of it languishing upside down upon the trailer (not to mention the borer bees) took their toll. Heading out tomorrow to get some bamboo (FREE!!!) to replace the old trim. Wish me luck!!!!

Just called, Charlie had it pegged.

OB glasser with a busted electric shift.

It was fun to dream about that big 26er for $250 though!

Re: The search for a free (or nearly free) Starcraft!

Hello,

My name is Jamie and I would like to own a Starcraft.

A little history: Last year I finally got the nod to get a boat. I ended up with a 14' Chrysler Charger with a 55 HP Chrysler OB. I paid $500. Nice little rig. I learned a few things about OB's, like impeller replacement, maintenance, etc. I caught lots of spring smallies and hooked into my first muskie. It was loads of fun while it lasted but sadly I had to sell at the beginning of the summer.

Now I find myself with a few extra dollars in my pocket again. I have been looking and can't seem to stumble across the lucky rig just yet. I have been lurking on the Starcraft board for some time and although I would consider just about any inexpensive rig that will get me onto Lake Saint Clair for cheap, I REALLY want a Starcraft. Any OB model between 14-18' would do the trick. Hopefully something I can fish while doing any necessary updates. (Or something I can tow to jasoutside's house for a weekend rehab! lol)

I do have in the garage a 1957 Evinrude Lark 35 HP OB that I could trade or fix up and use. It seems to be all there except controls.

Thanks for all the good work you folks do!

Jamie.

PS. I should also mention that I live in Saint Clair Shores, Mi. And I would be more than willing to lend a hand to others as well. Just ask!
