Thats kind of what I did

My 16' came from about 15minutes from you I believe in Cartersville.

Yeah - I was gonna go look at her for you, but you got on the road before we connected. I think you wanted to avoid losing her. :joyous:

I've seen a few SCs for sale in N. GA, but empty pockets are my downfall. :blue:

Thats exactly what happened. I told the guy if he would hold it for me I would be on my way with the cash within the hour. I think I got a decent deal out of her for $550.00 would I do it again I will let you know when she sells.

550 was a good price, Sig. And she's well on the way to Flipsville. Won't be long. :D

"There's nothing else like this on Craigslist that I know of. " <<Accurate statement for sure!

that 22' green islander is calling my name! he even wants to trade for an 18' tin, which i just happen to have.

we saw that hull from vt in this thread last year right? $700 i think.

side note to self: i think its time i change my avatar of a pile of trash

CT, I'm 5 minutes from this guy if you need help with anything. It looks like a great project boat with the usual work involved. I was tempted as well but I want a boat to use this summer.

Oh man a dream boat doesn't come along every day that's for sure. Man that's quite the drive, I know my daughter lives in Omaha.

Re: Starcraft on C-list/ebay!

Gentlemen,

This thread is getting dangerously close to being closed or deleted. We do not want to see any more 'boats for sale', or even links to boats for sale. These requirements are spelled out in the forum rules. Please take the time to re-read them and stay within those guidelines.

http://forums.iboats.com/forum-rules-guidelines/forum-rules-397820.html

Specifically rule# 8

Thank you.

Re: Starcraft on C-list/ebay!

An open letter to the mod team and the Starcraft brotherhood,

This thread has been in violation of rule #8 since the beginning and will continue to violate that rule so long as it remains.

That said, my understanding of the "spirit" of rule #8 would be two fold:

1. Iboats isn't interested in providing space for competitors to undersell them. Sure don't blame them for that!

2. Iboats and the forum mods aren't interested in babysitting a sales section here, way too much of a nightmare. Sure don't blame them for that either!

Now, does iboats have any share in the 40 year old nasty forgotten left for dead headed to the scrapper soda can metal boat hull market? Is there any real competition there? No. Obviously.

Second, are there any sales transactions happening here on this thread? No. Very, very rarely does anything amount to an actual legitimate sale from one member to another due to the postings here in this thread. Maybe one transaction out of 10,000 views I'd guess? Further, any sort of sale communication is no doubt handled on the PM side which is completely legit.

So what is this thread about anyway? Well rosco said it plane and simple really. Starcraft guys enjoying vintage boats. There is no better place to take a look at and kick around ideas/possibilities on what's available out there and what can be done with it. Seriously, this is arguably the axis of the Starcraft world, it all starts here.

Now, what damage has this thread done to iboats? How has it hurt the site or jeopardized it's mission? None, it's hasn't done a thing. As a matter of fact, I'd suggest this specific thread had brought on many new members and in turn generated healthy sales for iboats. At over 8,000 posts and over 250,000 views I'd also suggest that this thread is one of the busiest and most appreciated threads on the entire site.

Is this thread seriously a thorn in the side of the iboats forums? Come on, seriously? Heck no. It's an asset, and a big one.

I am all for the "spirit" of rule #8. Really I am. I get it. I am also very thankful for the mod team and their dedication/service here on the forums. Also, please understand I'm not arguing with anybody here either. I'm just pointing at the facts.

Here's what I'm saying.....

......you cut this thread, you are cutting a very important and useful appendage off this iboats body. Knowwhattamean?

Have a nice day:joyous:

Re: Starcraft on C-list/ebay!

Totally agree with Jason - this is one of the threads that got me (back) here. Even though I am not a tin head like most I do love them and read this and many other Starcraft threads as well.

Please read post #1 on this thread, looks like it was approved to start.

Why is it now not approved after three and a half years?

Speaking of rule #8, to me it read that this is not a buying/selling forum (aka craiglsist, ebay, etc) where a seller posts 'solicits' (per rule #8 verbiage) and a buyer buys. It is posting about other peoples boats for sale. Over the 328 pages there may have been a transaction or two accidentally happen, but nothing I read in rule # 8 looks like it prohibits this thread.

Re: Starcraft on C-list/ebay!

An additional thought, a rule so loosely and seemingly arbitrarily applied in this manner could push the 'Starmada' to create their own forum, losing you a bunch of traffic. From what I've seen there is much loyalty to iboats but there can be a tipping point.

would rule #8 apply to this long running thread?

Re: Starcraft on C-list/ebay!

Well stated Jason. This thread certainly has generated a lot of interest and a lot of discussions on the various models and conditions of our beloved Starcrafts. Makes ya wonder during the over 3 years duration of this thread how many mods have visited this thread and now suddenly a desire to delete or lock it?? Seems very counter productive to a very popular and extremely active area of these forums.

Re: Starcraft on C-list/ebay!

All I'm saying is we are getting reported posts from this thread, mostly about people posting that they either have a Starcraft for sale or are looking to buy one. That is a clear breach of rule #8. Most of the time one of us will go and edit the offending post. I'm just trying to remind people that this thread is not for that purpose. Stay with the original intention of the OP and we have no problem with letting it run.... Start getting too many people trying to use it as the market place and .......

Hope that clarifies.

I had understood from the original posts and other early posts on this thread that iboats users could post links to Starcraft boats for sale, to help others who were looking for such boats, but not to advertise our own boats. There is a clear violation of the rule in post number 8187, but I had thought the rest of the posts were fine.

I'm familiar with the rule you site (read it on signing up) - but had thought that the nature of this thread had been OK'd by the moderator back in 2010.

Best regards,

Peter

Hi Peter,

This particular thread is pushing the line very hard. The last few posts (which I have edited) go over that line. I was just reminding everybody that these are the rules and that's it.

Selling, buying, trading ect are not in the commercial interest of the owners of the iboats forums.

Just trying to keep it all open and not have us forced to close or delete the the, that's all....

Chris....

Thanks very much Chris - I just checked the thread - and there has been some discussion on your reminder. This is a really popular thread, primarily because it is the only location I know of where those interested in rebuilding old starcraft boats can go to, in an effort to locate these relatively rare boats. Can I post my question, and your reply from these private messages in the thread? This will clarify that the thread can still operate provided people are only providing pictures and links to boats that they have no commercial interest in.

Best regards,

Peter

I guess I can't see any harm in that. Go ahead...

Hello everyone, I checked with the mod - here are my questions and the mod's replies. Looks like the thread can continue provided that people are only posting pics and links to boats that they have no connection with or personal interest in. Thanks Iboats!
