Re: Starcraft on C-list/ebay!

Did I hear someone say 'cheap'? Well here ya go:
Boat For Sale

It is definitely a project.............

Trailer & all parts & pieces of the aluminum hull seem to be in fairly decent shape. Windshields don't appear cracked, but??

A repower is needed, as I don't think I'd spend much time or money trying to resurrect the Chrysler OB.

Nice guy, I've talked to him, helped him repost the pix in his new ad. Original ad was posted in Sept/Oct w/ little interest.

For the right buyer, he might accept an even lower offer.

That's well priced at $475.

Here's a nice little Minnesota restoration project for $400 - would need a repower or new lower unit.

I need to find some time for road trip. That's right up my alley. Although, I need to sell one off the fleet first. I do have to go to Kentucky at the end of April, I may need to swing by and check it out.

If I lived closer I'd take a look, it has some potential.

I wonder what other brilliant work-arounds this craft holds!

^^^ like repurposing a medicine cabinet as a helm?

1984 Starcraft islander more pics not his one. Thoughts on what someone should offer? I'd like to take a look at this in the coming weeks, if possible. Inside needs to be gutted. What's a ballpark figure on restoration for one of these if done on budget?

Actually the medicine cabinet is brilliant. Think about it - When approaching the dock to port, just open it up and you can reach the wheel while you handle the lines when single handed. Abso-frickinly brilliant.

Anyone have thoughts? I'd love to go for it, but I'm afraid I will wind up spending way too much. I don't plan on spending $3,000 to start, but we will see.

the motor alone on that boat could sell for $3000.......... the hull is desireable....if only a 19 footer

All kinda depends on how far you want to go with it. Going by those pictures...... I look at that rig (assuming nothing is rotted out) and think lets go fishing.

If it were a little closer to me I'd be out there in a heartbeat, nice boat.

Re: Starcraft on C-list/ebay!

Thanks guys. I'm going to take a look, just need the time to get out there as it's an hour away. With work and coaching baseball, I want to get out there in the daylight.

Anything in particular I should look for on these boats? Any stress points or things that go wrong that I should be on the lookout for?

Anyone see anything troubling? I'm very appreciative of the advice thus far. My fianc? is worried about the aesthetics, so is making me ask how hard it would be to paint this boat? Can it be flipped at this size? How does one go about it?

Edit ( and I may just take it to a new thread after this... He used pressure treated wood on the floor he replaced three years ago... Corrosion likely?)

Thanks again!

Re: Starcraft on C-list/ebay!

this is troubling:

That black schmutz looks like some kind of band-aid...a large one.

The PO of my current boat used flex-seal to unsuccessfully address 2 holes that were corroded completely through the hull skin:

Flex seal removed:

You shouldn't see daylight here:

Hmm that's not good. He said he bottom painted it. And pulled the boat out of his slip in November. Could it just be bottom paint?
