Wow, I thought this looked good. That 25hp kicker is a grand at the minimum. The interior, while old and dated, looks to be in great shape. The exterior looks great as well. I would doubt much wood rot given its condition. Looks like it spent its time indoors and not on the water.
I like but still 5hrs away and too much $$ for my budget right now. I will have to keep my eye on this one and if it is still and call the guy in a month or so and see if he still has it. If I could talk him down on his $$ I might be interested.
With a 1977 I got to anticipate the motor/outdrive might be junk, that old outboard is not worth much, I bet there is some wood rot in the boat. That would be on ocean fishing machine all fixed up. With fuel cost like they are a v-8 is not going to easy on the fuel, that boat needs the in-line 6 or v-6 or better yet twin outboards.

hmmmm...since i'm thinking of moving out that way anyway, and was thinking of getting a travel trailer to plunk on a piece of bare land til i can build, and this thing has a big cabin, and that way i could just sell the Starchief here and not have to move it, and.....

i'm sure the Admiral will see my logic.....

If I hadn't recently purchased the Chieftain and started updating her, I would be making a road trip to check out the Express. The price is reasonable for a West Coast aluminum boat. Given the fact that it is in Redding, CA., it probably spent most of its life on Lake Shasta. The seller is motivated, because he is posting outside of his hometown area; he posted the boat in Portland, OR. Plus, it is near the end of the boating season. The Ford V8 will have to go, but that could be a negotiating point. The kicker could be sold. If the boat is in a decent shape, you could knock a grand off the price, sell the kicker, and get a big 25' Starcraft for $2,500. BTW, I saw an original Express at WOT on the Columbia River a few weeks back and it blew through a series of 3 - 4 ft boat wakes with ease.

Hmm that old outboard is not even a thru prop exhaust model, not sure that old of outboard is worth much. If the boat was kept inside and there is no wood rot the price is probably ok, depending on what the trailer actually is. Just too far away for the $$ for me. If it was closer I would go look at it now. I want a 25 or 26 foot boat but my 21 is still doing ok and running good (motor has not turned 400 hrs yet). I am going to keep my eye on this one, hopefully no one buys it and he is a motivated seller. Its all about supply and demand. His phone number is on my desk incase he lets the ad expire.
