Re: Starcraft on clist!

This boat is in my town, and it looks like a downsize would work, any 16SS guys should inquire.....be happy to touch the boat for you

I was thinking trading my 17' Crestliner but it would be a looooooooooong drive.

Rivets are a dead give-away, any bare metal showing obviously means aluminum.

If you can see a cap on the bow/gunwales that sticks up it's a glasser. Tin boats don't have caps that lift off the hull so that is an easy way to tell.

Also if there's no lapstraking on the hull, and it's all smooth fiberglass like the one you posted ^^ you can tell it's a glasser.

Also if there's no lapstraking on the hull, you can tell it's a glasser.

Except for the new, improved lapstrake fiberglass models Starcraft introduced in the early 60's.

I look for the aluminum sheet cap over the bow leading edge, sharp inside bends in the splash well (rounded usually is F/G), flat dash boards (contoured is usually glass) and the general overall shape of the stern below the water line. Also the mid-hull rub rails are unique to the tin models.

Model names can be misleading because Starcraft recycles the names. Later years have glass Holidays, SuperSports, Novas and Mariners; along with other model names.

Hope this helps. :)

Two glass lapstrakes: http://atlanta.craigslist.org/sat/boa/2534172421.html and http://albanyga.craigslist.org/boa/2538528835.html

I agree, a $50 tarp from Wally world would go a long way.
