Seen a lot worse, snal. Looks like a newish starter on her. Some degreaser and paint will do wonders.

Yeah that isn't so ugly, thanks for the topless shot. We always enjoy a bit of OB soft core. :D

Took 3 days off of this project. Sanded and filled the boo boo's on the outside of the cowl today. Used fiberglass cloth and epoxy to patch the bad areas from the inside. She's now in sand-able primer.

Re: Starcraft Islander project

All new stringers are fully riveted down now.
One coat of epoxy on both sides of 3 major floor panels today. Gonna screw it down temporarily tomorrow, drill all the holes for all the screws, then remove and coat screw holes with epoxy.
Next on the list will likely be flipping the hull for bottom paint (at least)...and work on the trailer. The trailer needs another pair on bunks and a general sprucing up.

Now THAT is attention to detail.

I'm too old to see this done again....but I hope the next guy is like me....and appreciates a job done right.

It's a bunch easier to just drive the screws in with some 4200 or 5200 on them and it will be sealed up completely. Getting the holes lined up exactly again after taking the deck boards out is going to be a fight too.

I agree with WM. The holes never line up again. Put the floor in the final time and drill the holes through the wood into the ribs, squirt some 5200 or 4200 in and drive the screws home. Same thing if you rivet the floor down.

Not sure why the holes wouldn't line up again. My stringers are quite rigid (much more so than the originals), and if I start at the back and work forward I shouldn't have any trouble lining things up if they are slightly off.

This project is now FOR SALE!
We have lucked into a very nice lot on a beautiful 184 acre lake. The lake has a 15hp outboard limit, so this project
will be of no use to us.
Will sell the boat and trailer (no title for the trailer), or the boat, trailer, all outdrive parts and running engine, and the 175hp outboard, or any combination of the above.
Would also consider trading everything for foundation/framing/labor for constructing a small cabin in Laurens County, SC.
