Not cheating, OW - Just skillz. Good work!

The Kicker :) sounds like probably a good one, snal. Comp no.s are a little low, but even and with 7 years of inactivity the rings are most likely sticky. Or it could be the gauge?? Working TnT and an easy starter, along with parts off the boat, Maybe a grand isn't a bad price.

I just called the guy and told him that I'd take it. Hopefully it will at least allow me to try the boat out on the water when I git'r done. If it lasts a year I wouldn't complain :)

I'm guessing after you strip her and the PO totes the hull away, we miss the final disposal! You know that's not according to Hoyle or the Rules of the Starmada.

I forgot to mention earlier that the new bracing should hold 175 wild horses in check. :encouragement: And between the braces is good bilage for pumps and float switches.

I was kinda hoping that the boat was in better shape, and have some value. I probably could have got a better deal if I was willing to take the package (less trailer).

The brace is all riveted in now. Transom is painted too. Time to Gluvit that area and put that wide aluminum piece back on (for the 3rd or 4th time) :)

Ok bracket/brace guys...will this suffice?

Are you planning on notching the knees around the ribs and through riveting them to the hull ?

I'm guessing that the piece you put on the transom was so that you would not have to rivet the knees through the transom. I don't think it will be sufficient.

Nope, but the plate that's against the transom is 1/4", the braces are riveted to the ribs and the stringer system. I think it'll be plenty strong enough, especially once the floor is in. There will also be a 48" wide 1/4" plate on the outside of the transom.

4 ribs and the floor supports tied into the knee brace when compared to the factory dropping 6 rivets through the bottom of the hull. I think it will distribute the force over more of an area than the factory brace.

Re: Starcraft Islander project

Got 80% of the bottom rivets covered with "Gluvit" today. All the way up to the berth area before I ran out.
Final installation of the motor well tomorrow, then the real fun begins.

Hope to pick up the engine tomorrow as well.

Be sure to stay away from that curing gluvit, at least until it sets up good. Any walking inside will cause it to pop loose. After setting up stay on the ribs, even a skinny guy with no @rse can pop it. :D

I'm guessing the lower motor clamp bolts will be through that 1/4" plate too. I think you have it knocked, snal. I want to see the motor hung, but it's not that close yet.

Actually, the lower bolts are the only ones that will go through that plate. The uppers will have a stiffener plate inside the motor well.
Don't know if I can bring myself to photograph the engine...she's ug-ly! Might have to wait till after I paint her.

Motor well installed for the final time.

3/4" drain tubes welded into the well in each corner. They will be flush with the 1/4" plate that will mount on the outside of the transom.

Outer transom plate punched for drain protrusions and temporarily mounted. Brace installed at the front of the motor well.

Re: Starcraft Islander project

That is one serious shear in the background ! Most guys are lucky if the can find a 48" "jump" shear for their home shop.

LOL!...we still have our old 36" jump shear. The one in the background (with the yellow stripe) is a 10', 1/4" capacity shear. The big unit with the table in front of it is a 10', 125 ton press brake...it's ancient...but serves us well.
