Looks like i need to change my photo hosting site. Photo bucket just changed their policy and to host on third party places you have to pay for their premium account....$399/year. I've been using Photobucket since 2007...that's a lot of pictures that are no longer showing up in forums.

Question- when its time to epoxy the decking pieces, do you attach the seat/seam supports before you epoxy, or after? And how do you attach them? Glue and/or stainless screws, rivets?

I glued / screwed the seat backers onto the decking and drilled the pedestal holes before sealing.

Thanks!

I got most of the main level decking cut today. Just have the gas tank cover left which will be easy and the livewell doors. I used the measure 5 times cut once theory and it worked lol Everything fit the first try!

Oh man nice work on the fit. :thumb:

I can't tell for sure but it looks like maybe the seat bases are going to be straddling the 2 pieces of decking or close to the seam. Either way that joint will have to be super strong.

I'm hoping to position the seats to avoid the seam. Luckily there is aluminum support pieces there that are riveted to the ribs (factory). If I have to position the seats to straddle that seam I'll still add wood support between the aluminum support piece.

Heres a picture, you can see the two support pieces. The factory decking plan had two seams in this spot. The front decking piece (goes under consoles) went to the front support piece. Then there was a small decking piece that went between the two support pieces. And then the back decking piece. And to tie it all together they had a 4ft long by 2ft wide piece of sheet aluminum underneath it all.

Thanks Watermann! I knew before i even started the project thats how i wanted to do the foam. I saw other builds with foam that way on the forums and knew it was a good idea. Gets more foam in the boat and provides decking support. Little more work but worth it in the end.

I got the seat supports and storage door supports installed today- all except for the T-nuts. Waiting on delivery from amazon, lowes wanted $3 a piece for stainless t-nuts :eek::eek: And i need 30 of them. Oh, also got the decking piece that goes over the gas tank cut out.

Second coat of epoxy went on the decking pieces this morning, still have two coats left on the reverse side. Gonna have to order more epoxy. I ordered a gallon and have went through almost 3/4 of the gallon.

Also got all the wiring pulled out and a new dash cut out. Hopefully get all the new wiring ran within in the next few days. Wish I could save the top piece of the old dash with the sea nymph logo. Its too bad theres not many reproduction parts for boats. Theres a ton for snowmobiles.

Last coat of epoxy on the main decking pieces dried while I was at work. Looks pretty good id say. Its shame you'll never see this once its on the boat lol. Waiting on more epoxy to come in the mail to finish the other pieces. Wont get done until next week. Thursday after work im headed downstate for a wedding and wont be back until monday. Puts a damper on getting this dang boat done. Oh well, I have wednesday off of work and should get the wiring finished by wednesday night- fingers crossed.

Also testing a new image hosting site, didnt like imgur so I tried flicker, seems to work better than imgur as for as mobile usage.

Got all the wiring ran today after work. Everything works as it should and its no longer a jumbled mess. It looks a little sloppy now because i havent tidied everything up and tightened the loose wires. Plus most of it will be hidden under the side panels. I shouldve taken some pictures of the old wiring to compare-random splices, dead end wires, and...wire nuts

Oh, I wouldve put the 2 decking pieces in today since they are done but im waiting on a pair of hinges. Not bashing Iboats but they kinda dropped the ball on them and had to cancel the order and go elsewhere. Hinges will be here thursday, the day I leave for 4 days. Once I get back it should be game on and hopefully be laying carpet soon.

You mentioned Epoxy, what was the deciding factor for you in terms of choosing epoxy over poly?

1)I know absolutely nothing about poly lol 2) epoxy seemed easier to work with. The stuff I'm using is pretty idiot proof, it's a 50/50 mixture resin to hardener and 3) most of the tinners on the forum seemed to use epoxy. Waterman used it as well if I remember correctly and he seems to know his stuff lol
