For the price, if it works, okay. But honestly, I would buy it, clean it up a little for a nice clean representation and blue light it for a little more if it all works fine. For my little tri-hull boat, a would take the money and forget buying two batteries and buy a more suitable sized trolling motor. But that is just me. For the type of trolling I do and have done in the past, I don't need anything that large. JMHO!

Sam I think they have 36 volt and even 48 volt trolling motors available. You could really move up to one of them and forget the Outboard...

That's the beauty of craigslist...
I went with a 24 volt system for mine as well. From everything that I have learned, the added performance from the extra battery is worth the hassle of finding a spot for it. JMHO.

OK ? Which is better .. A compressor with an 80 gal tank rated 15.9 at 90 or one with a 60gal tank rated at 19.5 at 90 ....Both Ingersoll-Rand..

60gal tank, IMO, I suspect.you could add tank capacity but not additional cfm.

I bought this one about 6 years ago

http://www.northerntool.com/shop/tools/product_211720_211720

Total rock star, I can't say enough good things about it. It has a true running hp rating of 5 hp, and 100% duty cycle.

Either way you will get a great compressor from IR, but I am with JB, go with more CFM. Since they are rated at 90 PSI, I'm assuming you are talking about single stage compressors?

If, and that is a big IF, those numbers are correct, then the higher CFM is the better. But then that also means the compressor is capable of filling up really quickly if it can supply 19.5 CFM @ 90 PSI. Where did you find one with those specs? I've been looking around and been looking at a 230 Volt compressor by Quincy. But I don't think it can supply that volume. :noidea:

That is a two stage Sam. It puts out higher pressure, 175 psi. Mine tops our around 125 psi or so. The two stages are nice, but usually cost more. The single stage works fine for running Da's, air grinders, nail guns etc. The higher pressure does give some tools, especially impacts a little more umph!

By the way the two stages with the same HP usually put out a little less CFM than a single stage becuase of the extra energy to required for the higher PSI. So like GM, I kind of wonder about that claim. Might be right, but sounds kind of odd.

Was looking at this one . https://jacksonville.craigslist.org/tls/5333743705.html
But for just a bit more the new one Arch posted may be just as good ..
The other 80 gal was on sale at T/S ...

Sam, looks like a decent deal to me. And does look basically new as well. Not sure what type air tools you have and use, but I can't see anything the average guys could use that that compressor wouldn't power easily.

Not sure if you know any history about Ingersoll Rand, but there were the very first pneumatic tool company to open up business in America. And they started out building air tools for mining operations. There is a Gold Mine in northern Georgia that has their first pneumatic IR tool on display.

The Quincy version I am looking at is only a 3.5HP model. It produces 12.8 cfm @ 90 psi. It draws 16 amp @ 230 volts ac. So your 5HP is going to take a pretty good size breaker setup. Not sure of the model number, but I checked and if that one is a two stage and single phase, it will take 28 amps @ 230 volts.

Sam, if you would like to see more about your compressor, go to Air Compressor Direct and have a look.

Looks like a heck of a lot of compressor for $1040 Sam.

6 reviews at HD site were 5 to 1 favorable, and the 1 negative review seemed to take it in stride as long as HD kept picking up the dud and bringing a replacement.

Well no matter what one you go with, you will be buying all kinds of air tools! I use my 5" grinder, die grinder and angled die grinder all the time on boat projects. Lighter and they run cooler than electric. I have been toying with buying a air dryer.....which is probably a silly idea, but would be cool to have :D you can never have enough tools right:bounce:

Just looking around this one looks interesting

40 bucks more will get the 80 gal tank ... Most of the cons on review are the fittings/drain

btw , someone has a deposit down on the C/L one .

Sam, sorry to hear about the deposit on the initial compressor. Before buying one, just take a look at the Air Compressor Direct site and read about their offerings. They have lots and lots of compressors and even rate them. And unless I am royally wrong, they ship free as well. JMHO!
