Wow got temps up to 50 today and tomorrow. Still holing up in my cave though. Been thinkinking about the wheelhouse build.
There are soooooo many options out there for materials and each one sure does have a crazy price tag to it as you do comparisons.
Composites, foams, balsa, ply etc. and ea. has it's own characteristics. AAhhh
Just looking into opions. Fact is that it's all about cost. So that will probably eliminate the high end poop although I would like to use it. Probably going this way for the wheelhouse with marine grade end balsa sheets. Seems to have come along way, it lighter than ply, has a built in sealant and conforms to shaping.
Opinions welcomed.

Coated End-Grain Balsa Wood Core: BALSASUD Core. Dimensions are 24" W x 48" L. Density is 9.5 Lbs. per Cubic Foot. Our UV-coated end-grain balsa wood core material has remarkable physical properties, starting with its outstanding strength-to-weight ratios (high shear and compression strength). This advanced epoxy-based coating is the latest technology and enables better bonding adhesion and reduces resin absorption. Our balsa wood has been kiln-dried to perfection. Additionally, this structural balsa wood core material is easy to bond when using any type of resin or adhesive. Balsa core also serves as a natural insulator, fire retardant and noise reduction material. Working with balsa wood is easy, as it can handle changes in temperature and is highly chemical resistant (including styrene). All these advantages make CoreLite's balsa wood an ideal core material in sandwich construction. Balsa wood is also an all-natural product and a renewable resource, coming 100% from Ecuador. Our BALSASUD Core is of truly remarkable quality. Getting the materials from CoreLite is as direct to the raw source as you can get: we sustainably grow our own trees and manufacture the balsa core in our state-of-the-art facilities. Learn more at:
