The transom had to be cut out to pressure the added aluminum sheet. Of course I needed to get it done anyways. Might be using adhesive and some welding to set it in, not sure yet. I will add the collar and work out measurements before the transom gets installed.

Working on the console today. Made a plywood support and screwed it to the pallet the 165 is sitting on. Stripped out the old Volvo gauges. I can then set up the Merc gauges and wire them all. Once that is done I will connect it to the engine so I can run it for testing.

I will not be leaving the Fiberform logo on there, that would be all kinds of wrong. I will pull all the gauges and cut out some aluminum to mount the gauges then set it over the cut outs.

I hope to have it set up so I can disconnect a couple wires and transfer it into the boat.

I like the test stand idea. That should make engine testing much easier and hopefully get some kinks worked out before you drop her in.

Real Nice!:encouragement:

Picked up a small scrap piece of aluminum for the gauge cluster. Then set up a cardboard template to work out gauge positioning.

Photo with the holes marked on the aluminum plate. Not sure if I will keep it the same or change the positioning. I am not sure I want the key start at the top left, would rather it be at the bottom left. I have not scribed it on the plate yet. You can refer to the original gauge set up from the Fiberform to see where the start key was located or the mark on the above cardboard.

Have you placed your cardboard template behind the steering wheel to make sure that the main gauges are easily visible? Might be worth checking out. :)

Yes, I have the steering wheel mounted on my console right now to help layout gauges.

This is not a finished product, more of a test fit before painting the gauge plate and the helm plate. Once I paint it I can wire up the gauges. Going to be nice to pull off a couple wires and transplant into the SC when its all ready.
I plan on ordering a new toggle switch set up, but have not decided on which one. I will most likely replace most of the gauges and the look for a new steering wheel. The steering cable is close to new and will be a perfect length for the SC.
I really like the lower angle of the steering wheel. The original was too high up for my liking.

Finally getting to the removal of the transom housing from the old Glasser

Steering cable was already taking off
1st remove the exhaust riser
2nd Remove the trim lines
3rd unbolt the inner housing
4th pry off the outer housing (Not that easy)

Having issues with my iboats account since the new website change over. My login is mixed up with another user. No idea how that happened. Hopefully it will be corrected soon.
