Thanks for the thoughts guys. I hadn't thought of wearing mulitpul layers Sam....interesting idea. I usually keep talc powder next to the glove box, makes it a lot easier to get them on when you get sweaty.

I hadn't thought about that Chuck, lol! I didn't spend a lot of time on the boat today, thought I should spend a little of the long weekend relaxing lol! I am pretty happy with the direction the body work on the grooves is going. Its hard to tell from the shot, but it is pretty strait on the inside of the U.

I also spent some time on the vertical joint where the inside of the gunnel and the new turned down leg of the deck come together. I just want to feather the tabbing out and create a small radius. There will be a seat back tucked into the corner, so no need for a big radius. Overall I am really happy with the way the deck extension is turning out. The body work is tedious, but given I am splicing homemade parts into the boat.....that is probably par for the course!

Arch, like I was once told, you don't have to be a great fiberglasser, but a great grinder sander. But you seem to be all of them. :thumb:

I'd post an update....but its more sanding and bondoing! It is getting close to primer time......my goal is to hit it with a couple coats of high build sanding primer tomorrow.

JB I also want to say thanks, the gloves you recommended are working awesome so far! I got them from Uline and had to buy 200, but so far they are really durable and stand up to acetone.

Glad to help and I doubled up on them sometimes too, just like Sam suggested.

I spent more time sanding this weekend.....should have just kept sanding during the OU game.....fairly pathetic. I do have the everything ready for primer except the doghouse. I need to blow off the dust and wrap it up. I'm hoping to do that tomorrow night and maybe get the primer blown on Thursday. That will give me a good idea of where I am on the the bodywork.

Arch - Are you going to have some sort of gasket on the doghouse joint?

You're ready to start doing custom Vettes. LOL

It's all looking good!

Arch, looks great to me. I can't wait to see it in primer. That will bring it all together and look amazing. You did good. :thumb:

Thanks for all the nice comments. GA, the old dog house had a U shaped vinyl edging on the the dog house. I'm planning on trying to use the same thing. I may have to grind the inside corners some, since I got the glass really thick there. The vinyl just slides over the edge and cushions it against the channels in the deck. So its not really a gasket.

Arch, I have been looking at something like you alluded to. I want to push on a little rubber piece that will dress off the exposed end of the storage and rod boxes. And I am presently looking at some of that trim channel on EBay. It looks like some vehicle door trim but will really dress those channels on my boxes out pretty nice. Post what you plan to use. I could change my mind in favor of your selection. :noidea:

I am presently looking at this type;
