Re: Pontoon rebuild / redesign

Thanks guys, hopefully I can make some progress on the 1st. Getting back to "boat stuff", has anyone used c-flex planking before. Apparently it is still made, but I haven't been able to find much info on it. I did find this from glen-l

Building Methods: C-Flex page 1

Looks like it might work well for the toon.....although I'm still not crazy on fairing it.

Looks like it's still available from the maker that Glen-L sourced it thru:
View attachment C-Flex.pdf

Rolls are 12" wide, and run $2.99 or 3.38 per linear foot depending on the glass weight you buy, unless you need more then a 1000LF :faint2:

Re: Pontoon rebuild / redesign

Way back when I was a kid, I helped an old man at the Marina in Ponca City build a Splashwell using C-Plank as he Called it. He stapled it in place and then Resined over the staples and everything. It worked GREAT as I recall. We finished up with CSM and Roving. Turned out Really nice. I learned a lot from that old man. Didn't know it at the time but now I Do!!!!

Shed is looking Good Arch!!!

I wish there were some good application photos and information on it. Thanks for the link JB...I will try to give them a call at some point in the future. I would like to at least buy a small amount to experiment with. Wood, it looks like it lays down real nice, is that typical, or did they work for hours to make it look nice for the pics?

From what I recall, Now remember I'm OLD and it was almost 50 yrs ago, it conformed fairly well and he used staples onto wood. I kinda reminded me of roven woving but it had like small glass rods in in it and it crackled. The base glue was almost like PB fairly thick and was trowled on first and then followed up with basic resin. That's kinda what I remember if I'm remembering right. Heck I dunno, I might be thinkin of sumthun else.

That looks like a great way to build custom builds without molds
