Here’s some pics. I’ve been non-stop all day. I welded some pieces to my transom inner skin. I’m getting better for sure. Not a stack of dimes but close enough.

I wrapped the vinyl around the casting deck but I didn’t glue it and plan on doing more to it so it’ll come out after vacation.
Trolling motor mount on, side panels on but also temporary. I’m thinking I’m going to cover the vertical surfaces with carpet. I think it would be too much to have everything same as the floor.

I did the butterfly wrap trick and while it works as best you could do, it’s still kinda bulky at corners. Only an issue when the wrapped pieces is up against something else.
put the trailer back together. Taking it apart to sandblast it was a good idea, but painting it apart wasn’t. Everything gets scratched and every bolt and nut looks horrible after.
I was looking at one of DozerII’s rebuilds and one had the exact same trailer. Yet the more I look and discover, the more I don’t like. I’ll take a pic of the spring brackets. There 2-3 feet long of 1/4” 2.5-3” angle. It has this bend in one side of the angle that makes you wonder what went wrong. It took me a few mins and checking before pictures to realize it’s been like that all along. Not a critical thing, but just odd.
Im hoping to get it on the trailer tomorrow and the motor put on. The transom skin will be dry and ready to fit, then I can put the splashwell in. After that I can take a breath and relax a bit, knowing that I’ll be able to leave on time.

You're really crankin' along PlayD0h and it's turning out great!

It looks like you followed Glen's (Dozer) Naked Lady bow design! I'll be doing something very similar on my SS.

You'll be on the water in no-time! :thumb:

That’s looking great! I’m years away from getting it mine to where yours is, but then again I’ve made the decision to take the long road.

I see you have gone with the decision of using the Springfield “plug-in” series. I was debating whether to use it or the taper lock series. How well do the plug-in stems go in and out? I don’t want something I have to battle with. Also, how much clearance did you have under the floor for those socket mounts? It must’ve been pretty close to bottoming on the hull?

I also like how you kept a small V upfront. Looks like you have a lot more standing space up high. Can’t wait to see more pictures

The pedestals remove fairly easily, and with the plastic liner I don’t expect seizing issues. I think I read a review where someone said theirs seized tho.
I looked at the taper locks also, but if I recall they weren’t rated for travel speed. You need to make sure your pedestals at AD rated. There’s Driver, and Passenger separate ratings but the selections available here are limited through Cabela’s and BPS.
Clearance is good, wasn’t ‘close’ to the hull. I even had a rib under some and it wasn’t a problem. My drivers seat is just a wee bit too far back to drive and sit back. I’ll get a slider if I think it’s worth it.
I recommend doing what I did and make a base so you can sit in the seat and know exactly where the base will be. I didn’t trust just putting the seat on a milk crate or something and not being 100% pinpoint accurate where the base is in relation to the seat.

Good eye. While he was working on it I asked him and he gave me the measurements for his bow deck. I don’t think I even would have considered painting the boat black if not for the naked lady.
Thanks for the boost.

Got her on the trailer and took some quick pics before I had to get it back in the garage before a storm hit.

Yeah nothing is even going to be perfect. I found when working with heavy material like Nautolex there's no way to not have some extra material on the corners and it does take some practice with it getting easier as you go.

Motor is on, bolted up, mostly connected and ready to Rock. I can breathe now and know that any small thing(s) I can deal with at the lake. I always bring a ton of tools and spare parts anyways.

i also found my missing small parts. After I made replacements of course, lol.

Where I’m going the best fishing spot is a 2 min drive from the launch. I once had lower leg problems on another older boat before heading there. So I just took the motor off and used my electric to get to the spot. Got a few double takes from people, but was much better than not fishing.

Im going to add up what I’ve spent when I get back. I had my hopes up on getting a new sonar this year, but this resto has eaten that money up. Maybe I’ll sell some things, like maybe a kidney, lol. I want the new GPSmap ultra from Garmin, and either in the winter or spring next year get the Panoptix.

Anyways, I’m pumped now.

She looks great! Nice work. I like the angled windshield setup, I always thought the completely flat SS windshields looked a bit odd.

Thanks bud. I actually didn’t do any modification to the windshields. Maybe the older SS’s have a flat windshield?

Mine is dead flat across. It’s a 75 or 76 (I can never seem to remember) I don’t mind the flat, but it’s the side brace I could live without. I’d like to be able to troll from the helm at times

Ya I hear ya on the braces. Fishing from the front seats is near impossible, practically. I have Scotty rod holders in the middle of the braces and that’s about the only way fishing is done from there
I always fish from the bow and the wife or buddy from the back. I’ve considered changing the windshield and console but not only would it be difficult to source a windshield without paying through the nose, and even with so it’s likely be tough. But also it wouldn’t look much like it’s original. Restore vs Redesign balancing act.

I’m going to look at whether I can eliminate my angle brace. My side glass is triangular and it is framed with a vertical post. I may have to twin that with an L bracket of stainless or aluminum for extra strength. You might be able to do something similar?

How was the camping, fishing and boating?

Great minds think alike :D

a nice thick L bracket of Aluminum would easily replace the support IMO. I’d put a ‘small’ triangular brace in there unless it looked fugly. Maybe even make the existing bracket removable? Probably not since that wouldn’t be very practical.
My consoles are straight across just the windshield sits angled on them. The angled pieces fit to the windshield by round channel. They slip into each other and can hinge quite a bit.
Today is our last day and it’s been awesome. Tons of fish and the wife got a 3.5 lbs Walleye which is by far the biggest I’ve seen out of here. My go to lake has 8-10 pounders, and she of course beat my PB by a couple ounces there. She tries to rub it in, but we both know that not only did I hand her the rod and rig, but I taught her everything she knows about fish. Her pride is my pride and it’s just as rewarding watching a companion catch a big one for me.
Kids caught fish and had a blast. My son caught his in the first 30 seconds which is perfect for a 7 y/o with ADHD.
I went fishing for a couple hours the first day and checked right away for water from leaks and not a drop. The next day I noticed it rained during the night, but the ground is so wet I couldn’t tell how much. Yet it didn’t look like much. Yet I pulled my plug before heading out again and say 5-8 gallons came out. Had me worried I had a leak after all, lol. But she doesn’t leak a bit. Got a couple small scratches but it’s all good
:)
