Too late, floatation and deck are in!! Moving on.... next up I want to figure out my seating. I was going to use the folding seat mounts (see 6/16 photo) from the Islander, however, the Holiday may not be deep enough to use them. With a seat (16 inches wide) they won't be able to fold down all the way (not sure how important that is yet, but it would really be nice if they did). Checking on used pair of Moeller Pilot Chairs w/Pedestals, and Cushions, one comes w/ a slider (hoping too get a call back). Bad is I'll have to open the deck back up to mount the pedestals, but not the worst thing in the world.

think in terms of the round access plates ....i have three 6"ers in the Holiner, and they're big enough that i can reach an arm in under the deck. cutting round holes and installing a few might be easier than pulling the entire deck....?

That's a good idea too. I'll wait now until I have got something to mount. Here's a photo of the new deck. 2 coats of epoxy resin both side and each rivet hole epoxied too. Last fall I got a really good deal on big box of large button head aluminum rivets so I'm using those on the deck. Got them on clearance at Grainger for like $15 for a box of 250. And a box of the regular smaller size rivets for about the same price, for putting the bow, slash well, and rails back on. Should have enough left over to build one more boat after this one. Found 2 candidates the other day, 17' tin Crestliner and a 16' tin Alumacraft both $400 OBO./ Then I missed out :grumpy:eek:n a early 60's 17' Seafair Sedan, complete, w/non running Rude on the back for $400 even had canvas. I'd get ichty for that boat no problem. Very cool boats, would be fun to rebuild one before I'm done. Enough rambling here's the deck photo.........

Better than factory right there tgp! Actually, if they built them 1/2 this good, we wouldn't have a hobby!

Thanks for reminding me about Granger...have one about 2 miles away that I keep forgetting about!

I need to add some more rivets though. Close up the distance between them on the joints and stringers. You can tell when you walk on it. I have plenty!:)

It is looking great. I still don't get how you got all that glue off! It almost looks like brand new aluminum....even up front around all those ribs.

There still some glue there, it just doesn't show up in the photo. It was a real "B". I'll cover what's left w/some paint.

I've got it covered for the next one. I told her I over estimated my floatation the other night. She quips, just use on the next one. Programming her the right way. I also tell her I make money. Then give her some. I all part of my master plan. He he he.......:laugh:

I have a great tip for everyone. Rochford Supply. They have the best price on Nautalex vinyl floor I ever seen (Carpet price wasn't bad either). $18.75 per yard for 72" wide flooring. It would ship freight for $11. That's $120 to do the deck on the Holiday in vinyl.

Considering it. Only thing is that the large button head rivets may cause a problem with putting down the vinyl.

Here's the link for Rochford Supply

Re: Oh no. Here I go again.......

maybe use a 1/2" bit to counterbore so the rivet heads sit flush or below deck level?

Had a mishap. I was picking picking up the painted bow tin and lost control of it. Long story short. Scratches:(. Taped off the part that got scratched up sanded and sprayed. Now I'll have to see if I can buff out the tape lines. Any one have any tips for hand buffing out the tape lines????

How well do the non skid deck coatings work? Considering using one. If anyone has used these products, how are they holding up after a few years, and how easy are they to clean?

Friscoboater used durabak, as have a few others, but none that have posted up the results after years of use. If it wasn't doing well, most would be much more likely to complain about the poor results, many won't take the time to give good reviews about products that perform as they should or as they expected.

Sleeper-6 & Mike Lammert both used it, and did amazing work w/ it....

Mike's was almost unbelievable:

Re: Oh no. Here I go again.......

I thought I'd should tell of my re-purposing of boat parts.

I was unable to sell my Mercruiser wire harness so I've decided to use it for the Holiday wiring. Money I will not have to spend. 20' feet of wire harness. Has three 8 or 10 guage wires plus more than enough wires for navigation and bilge, and other accessories.
Its sure is nice having lots of spare parts lying around.

I'm currently working on the windshield. Lots of scale, and pitting, which means lots of work.

My real reason for this post is...... Where are people getting there windshield glazing channel from these days??

My new - repurposed wire harness - yet to be installed. Must get the windshield done first. It needs three new pieces of plexiglass too.

Re: Oh no. Here I go again.......

I have not gotten much done lately. Contemplating parking the boat outside for the winter. Getting old and don't feel like brushing snow and scraping ice. So I thought I'd treat everyone to the first real look at the Holiday. I have lots left to do though. Flooring, wiring, seating, motor. I need to find some parts too.
