Next Spring will be busy for you. Although you appear to be a good 75% finished. Looking great!

Thanks guys,

The bow strips are a mahogany type wood from South America not sure exactly what it is. Got them free, 15 years ago, have lots of it, they are all, 6' long by 2 1/2" to 3" wide by 7/8" rough). The transom plate is just old plywood from the Islander. It was one few pieces in really good shape. Epoxied and spar varnished. A little bit of stain too. Took some mixing to get a color I liked.

Brazilian cherry/Jatoba by the looks of it... I used to have a nice stockpile, but helped 2 buddies use it as an inlay in their oak hardwood floors.

Is it crazy hard wood? BC is nearly twice as dense as white oak on the Janka scale

BC/Jatoba: 2350
White Oak: 1360
Red Oak: 1290

If it's BC, it'll change colors in UV, to a deeper, ruddier red......

Its funny stuff. Not really that hard. Some pieces are hard and will hold a nice edge for like picture frames and stuff like that, and then some pieces won't. I'm not that knowledgeable on wood. But, it sure looks really nice though when finished, and looks awful close to mahogany. Planes up real nice too. Its lighter in color than what's on the boat, I used some stain to get the color I wanted. At one time, my brother had a pallet of the stuff 4 feet high and 4 wide. I'll try to remember and get a good photo of raw piece of the wood and post it in thread (tomorrow's to do list). Would like to find another opportunity to add another small accent of the wood to the interior. We'll see what happens.

Wow!

I just found my first tin boat, my MBS has me looking for the next one due to a nice 70 hp Johnson in my garage that needs a home! I think I'm in love with the Starcraft Holiday! Your work is awesome! I love the wood on the bow, the dash reminds me of my old 69 Barracuda interior... The white topside and black hull is way killer! Again awesome!

If that back to back is the right fit for your boat, a new seat set would be awesome to carefully pull apart & use the brown as a pattern. You may be challenged to find a good vinyl match for any welting or edging you add to a white seat anyway.

Is white vinyl as hard to match as other colors? Is all white vinyl the same color?

There are different whites. Every manufacturer has a little different pattern too. What sweet price though, if you could use brown.

Thanks to everyone for the compliments. From a distance you just can't see the imperfections. Its coming along nicely though.

A big thanks to Glen, he came through with a stern light mount & compression sleeve for me.

Picked up a pair of 19' throttle/shift cable on ebay for my spare Merc 650ss & just about finished with the repairs to the wire harness from the shift box to the motor. I keep thinking I should look for a bigger motor though. A red badged 1000 Merc would look really nice on the back of that sled. But its just not in the budget.
