At least the seats can fill in as easy chairs in the den until you can get the snow off the boat. :joyous: Those are nice looking seats.

Re: Oh no. Here I go again.......

Hooray! The Holiday is finally back in the hanger. I've got some decisions to make, and materials to purchase. And the boat fund from winter selling on ebay goes faster out, than it did coming in.

First up is Electrical. Re-purposing the old mercruiser wire harness. 20 ft of multiple gauged wire (free). Used fuse block from the Fabuglas (free), The Fabuglass also had a new 500pgh bilge pump (free).

First decision I need to make. Flooring. Nautlolex shark, black carpet, or white durabac? The Admiral said carpet. I'd like to try something else.

Need some white vinyl for the interior panels yet. I need a gas tank. Then get that 650ss running. piece o'cake. Oh yah, find the time to get it all done. I do see light at the end of tunnel though.

Maybe next week-end I can get started. Oh oh... "Here comes Peter Cottontail"......

you could bind the carpet and make it a removable "rug", then do the deck in something more practical for when the Admiral's Feet are not Sampling the texture.

nutting wrong with "progress by credit card". like the seats. is it the pic or are they slightly off white?

if you re-use the bilge pump, make it your backup. those things have a way of carping out without warning, and 500gph is tiny anyway.

I'm leaning towards the nautolex. Not do'n the card thing, I have goal/limit for this boat. Trying to work with what I have, I'll make do.

The seats have a yellow/tan tinge to them, there's always next year for recovering. They are really wide, there's hardly any room left between them when the arm rests are on, so they'll be coming off. I need new bushings for the spiders, too. My spiders and my posts are different makes (2 7/8") so I need a bushing that just a little thinner. The posts are garelicks, not sure what spiders are. Todds maybe.

The bilge pumps, I actually have two of those 500 gph units. I could hook them both up, I suppose. Their both almost new. I need to do a search on how to do the wiring in of the second one as a back up.

Just need time to do it all. Good thing I have the Nassau! (Which still needs to be unwrapped from winter.)

Re: Oh no. Here I go again.......

Here is my latest at being cheap. The interior side panels had a little rot on the corners, but the majority of the panel was good. So I lap patched the ply. Then used PL to laminate the lap joints.

Check this out. Strong repair, and a heck of a lot cheaper then buying a 10x4 foot sheet of plywood. ($5)

Cut off the rot, then router in a lap joint.

Fit

Glue and screw, there's also another board w/wax paper on the back side. I use screws only because I don't have enough clamps.

All that's left is to trim it.

Good patch and glue job! I hate throwing the good with the bad. You salvaged the good. :thumb: On your second bilge pump - You could wire it using a float switch so it's automatic directly to the battery. That's good to get water out of the boat if it starts to fill up if the cover blows off or tears while in storage. And wire in a light so you know when it kicks on.

Looks like a nice repair. What's the glue of choice? Epoxy (guessing based on the wax paper)............

"Loctite? PL? Premium? Polyurethane Construction Adhesive is a one component, polyurethane based, moisture-curing adhesive. It is VOC compliant and contains no chlorinated solvents or water. Loctite? PL? Premium? provides superior adhesion to most common construction materials. It can be used for interior or exterior projects and is 3X as strong as ordinary construction adhesives. It is also waterproof, paintable and cures even in cold temperatures. Ideal for sub floor installations."

Nice repair on the side panels. I have run into the same problem a couple times with rot only in the bottom corners. I should have taken pictures but forgot on the current Holiday the upper gunwale inside vinyl pads were made out of two pieces of ply, but the StarCraft factory just butted them together then stapled what looked to be a piece of reinforced extra H/D tarp material on each side, then just upholstered over it.

Re: Oh no. Here I go again.......

Wow, I forgot I had these little goodies. I have a pair of hatches (need to be cleaned up) from the free Fabuglass I killed. I'm thinking I could install one in the floor up front for a beer/bait chiller and drain into the bilge. Just need to find a tray/box/container for a cooler area to mount under the deck/lid. Any ideas ?

Thought maybe something like this for $17

How about using this:
bait-tray-7.jpg

I suspect you can find 1 short enough to go below decks. It could even be bigger in both directions then your hatch.

5200 in a thru cooler drain fitting, and pipe it to the bilge. You could use a bilge plug to keep the ice & water in it until end of day.........

Just try to find 1 w/ a flat top edge, not one that's notched to receive the lid:

Already insulated as a cooler.

That bin isn't insulated, so you'd be fabbing up insulation on at least 5 sides....

Nice job salvaging those materials!

I have a shed full of old marine PLY...and a router :D

If you have anymore scraps around, maybe you can fab a box & glue some floatation foam to the sides...kill 2 birds with 1 stone.

Managed to get some work done on the Holiday. Flooring, dash, and side panels all installed. I need to find some tracks for sliding doors at the back of the boat. Don't have any.

I would load photo's but the site does not cooperate for me. I get nothing but upload errors. or byte size errors. annoying. will have to resize every photo but to what size? what size is less than 20000 bytes??:grumpy: Plus I can't get my very first post off the top of the page. Not very impressed with the new changes. Lots-O -Bugs. And don't hours to futz with it.

T - You can make the channels for the doors with some AL channel from the Big Box. |_|_| <- That's an "L" and a "U" put together if you can believe it. Size the channel to match the thickness of the wood you use for the doors.
