Exactly, clean it up and if any factory smeg is loose remove that but most times it's solid. Gluvit is what needs to be used to seal the seams and keel area.

Thanks for the info. I will be completing the last upgrades to the trailer and doing a dunk test hopefully soon (weather permitting). I guess I thought that the Gluvit was too watery in nature to seal a large area, but as I read more I see that it's a multi step process with the Gluvit. Rather than glop it on really thick.

As always Thanks again, DT.

You can copy your thread address first, click on your user name in upper right, user settings, account tab, scroll down to conversation detail options and then Edit post signature.

More advanced is once there in post signature you can type the name of your thread, highlight it and then it the add link in advanced editing and paste it in there and it will be hyperlinked once saved.

Your hull inside is pristine compared most we see here, DT. Pick a good day and slop Gluvit. :D

Would you want your thread title changed? You haven't asked a gunnel question in ages. LOL That's only if you want to change it.

GA,
That would be great maybe if I could remove the "and info about reinforcing gunwales" part. Is that something I do or do I just need to say that's what I would like to happen?

If so that would be great to change it.

As always, Thanks, DT.

It's changed but a leprechaun made the change - It wasn't me!

I hope it was a pleasant pot of gold at the end of the rainbow type of leprechaun, and not the creepy horror movie kind. Lol.

Watermann,
I could only locate the satin of the man o war spar varnish. Probably a silly question but does the finish really matter. I thought that maybe the gloss or semi might have not adhered as well. I have cut the plywood, I just need to finish prepping it and then I'll apply the spar. Unless I hear different. :)

Thanks again, DT

DT you're good to go and I wouldn't worry about the finish being satin, it'll adhere all the same and of course be covered so you won't see it again. ;)

Satin has flattening agents in it, if you could find gloss, I'd recommend it over satin. Satin will be fine for your application though.

I just found a local OSH that has it here in the California bay area. They didn't have any in stock when I got the satin but while posting this I got a call so I'll be picking it up tomorrow, and swapping it out with the satin. The amazing things I learn from my Starmada crew. I just want to do this once, if possible. Lol

Thanks again for keeping me from straying too far.

This was the only leak I had. I'll be doing the gluvit treatment in this area first, the use the rest on seams and rivets.

Anyone know of a place to get reproduction arrow style Logos/emblems. I have one that is okay but worn. I am interested in one in really good or reproduction. I saw some on ebay. When I went to look later they were gone. I am interested in trying my hand at casting an original one in aluminum.

Thanks, DT

1 member made his own re-pops from molds he made of his original ones, 18mo ago +/-. Casting epoxy or plastic resin of some sort. His looked great. I think he painted the 1st set he made. The 2nd set were color cast, IIRC in red.

Other then making your own, nobody doing it other then the guy on ebay. The last set I saw there had some distortion in the mold and a couple of the letters werent quite 'right'. It was in his mold because several sets all had the same flaw.

I traded an extra tin boat for water-jet'd arrow logos. The logos have yet to be produced. Life changes w former member (work) that got the boat from me and his family member (health) that worked w the jet machine. Its been plenty long enough for them to be cut.

Thanks JB,
I will have to do some more digging. Maybe I can find the member that had made his own. I've seen the water jetted ones, I'm just a fan of the texture differences and how the arrows are recessed slightly. I've seen some really nice ones that people have prepped and painted and I may find myself buying some water jetted ones if I can't find one clean emblem or if I completely bomb at casting. I've cast other things before, this is just the first emblem/logo I've every done. How thin it is, is probably my biggest concern/hurdle. I have been collecting scrap aluminum and making ingots so when I find one I'll be ready.

Thanks to all, and I'll keep looking.

I have one of the logos that isn't ruined that is just hanging on my garage wall. Sounds like it could go to a higher calling. PM me, I can send some pics of it to your email.
