Also got the boat flipped to polish and seal the bottom paint.

Now working on breaking down the trailer to get it repainted. Will get pictures tomorrow on that progress.

Great progress Nature, looks like your weather has improved considerably since you started on the project.

Thanks everyone!!!! Didn't get any pictures tonight, but the trailer is fully taken apart. Working on getting it sanded, but will be gone for the weekend. Progress will be a little slow. Have a fun and safe Memorial Day weekend everyone!!!

Wow, a month since the last post. Been on vacation for 2 of those weeks, but have worked on the boat and trailer in between trips.

I got the transom patched and prepped for paint.

Also, The trailer is finished. This took forever, but looks fantastic. Very happy how it turned out.

Next up is getting the hull buffed and polished. Goal is to have it back on the trailer by Sunday.

Well a little update before the long holiday weekend. The boat has been polished, flipped and back on the trailer. Also got the hull sealed with a coat of gluv-it on all the seams and rivets. Also decided to paint the cowl wrap on the engine instead of polishing it. Looks good but still need to order decals.

Will get pictures of boat after the weekend. Have a great and safe 4th!!

Eventually I am going to order the decals for the outboard, but trying to get everything else complete. I got started putting the floatation foam in. Along with it got the 2 aluminum floor supports.

Made a bracket to support the bilge pump and installed.

Tonight finished up the foam.

Great work - fast too. How did you layer that foam, and how much did you have to buy?

Re: nature1100's 1965 Starcraft 18' Holiday Restoration

Used 9 sheets of 1" thick foam. Total of 24 cubic feet of foam. That roughly displaces 1500 lbs of water @62.4 lbs per cubic foot. I did have a little scrap, but much.

To measure the foam pieces I needed, I used a straight edge and a combination square. I set the straight edge across the floor supports and set the square at 1 inch increments below the straight edge. I then slid the square along the straight edge untill it touched the rib and marked that point. Then just measured from mark to floor support and cut the foam to that size. That way the foam is flush with the floor.

In the center there are 8 - 1" layers.

Re: nature1100's 1965 Starcraft 18' Holiday Restoration

Nice - what do you plan on putting on the floor? Paint? Carpet? Vinyl?

What do you then plan on doing up the front of the boat - on my Holiday - the (very old) vinyl simply runs up the side of the boat, and it hasn't stuck between the floor and the panelling which is further up. I'm curious as to what you intend to do.

Thanks everyone for the compliments. I plan on using carpet, since it is going to be a family boat.

I have the floor panels sealed and have finished installing them. Went pretty quick.

Also, I have started prepping the topside for paint.
