If you put a hitch on the front of your truck it will make it a lot easier to maneuver the boat. I did that as I have to go between 2 brick posts and then around a tree to get it where I want it.

Oh I guess I should state - I'm thinking doing this rolling it by hand.

Nice diagram. So you are thinking the tongue will be entering the back yard first? I was thinking tow it in as far as I can get. Then unhook it. Move tow vehicle to patio. Continue moving boat by hand angling it as your drawing passing the AC unit. Then begin swing and stop. Move tow vehicle out and then continue to patio.

I need to shore up the remove vehicle part with a measuring tape thou...lol

Hey Wood,
I got my 20% off coupon in the truck and was gonna head there this week. The reviews are high for that product on HF website. Im getting some scrap oak from the shipping department today to make Curb Ramps for the street. Im solicitation friends and family and business for 4x8 sheets of ply or osb or whatever to lay down the day of the move and then promising to return it. Thanks

I think you're going to be hard pressed to have a tow vehicle back there too.

I have one and those dollies Woody posted work great! Working by myself I can move my 18SS fairly easily, the down side is the ball is almost too low. I have to use a jack to lift the tongue on/off the ball since the trailer jack doesn't go low enough to seat it on the dolly letting me swivel it out of the way.

Added: Unless your ground is really soft one of those dollies will roll right the grass pretty well.

Those car dollies have small wheels and will probably damage the plywood. I am all for trying to get it in from the back through the chain link somehow.

No Title

That's good info to know. I'm thinking I will move the boat back to lighten the tounge. I would guess it now at 155 to 170. Two of us could nearly raise it an inch. So since there are no mechanicals I want to get it around 100. This will help with the dolly movement. The dock supervisor gave me two 10 ft x3.5x3.o in Oak boards that I can use to build curb ramps. I figure I gotta make em wide since I can't quite hit the curb square. I'm gonna call the police department and se if they can manage traffic for me. Figure I'd ask since all the taxes I pay. I feel I know the answer to that one but we will see. I'm thinking a simple design like this.

With some adaptation you could make yours a bit higher if needed. Kinda like this one...

The issue with that is I would have to remove a post to get the width. I also have a large stump from a tree I had cut in 2004. I totally agree with you.

Well after a lot of fretting and not much doing I went with this dolly from Northern Tools. I had a free shipping code and a 5% off coupon code. I have a lot of turning and I was afraid the HF would not hold up with so may turns. Also I have people coming from out of town to help so I don't want waste their time with delays.

I got some time to make the two curb ramps that I need for the move. I need to soften the initial angle with my belt sander with 18 grit but its out at my brothers house.

A small tractor could pull your boat around your yard. I use a small john deere to move mine.

I think you'll really like the Trailer Dolly. I KNOW I like mine and It's easy to use. I also use my Riding Mower to move the boat with at times. But for quickie moves I use the Dolly.

You can do a sister joint with a vertical butt joint or a 45. Either will work. Using 1/4" or 3/8" plywood, glued and screwed to both sides extending 18" on either side of the joint should do the trick and then tab it all to the hull. She'll be good and strong!!!

I need a refresher please. Can this be done using POLY? Thanks

Yeah, well EEEEEEEpoxy is really strong and does a great job but we're not building a StarShip or a Tank soooo I'm more than certain that good ole' Poly will "Git er Dun" just fine!!!! But the Dilithium Crystals work great if you can find any!!!!:D
