With all this flip talk you are forgetting Ive got the same boat with only a 115 hp on mine a 135 would be really slick. You are closer. What I really want is a 140hp but they are tough to come by.

You must be insane to trust my motor skills ohh wait a minute ive seen all the structure work you have had to do that pretty much confirms it......

Someone just needs to talk nice to CJ8Mule & get a official Starmada 'check it out for me' listed on his to do TODAY list ;)

I 'found' it, least someone could do is jump on it, since I'm headed the wrong direction for a week & and have over written my boat account w/ the Admiral already.

I know, what's a little more hot water when you're already boiling, right???

Believe me, if circumstances were different, I'd be in my truck driving ....and while I'm down there, link-up with Pete (suitor) for some BlueCat action! :thumb:

Now when a beauty like this reveals itself in ~ a year from now...on like Donkey Kong baby!

With all the work you've done to your 70, you may as well hang onto it until a sweet 1986 (prop-rated) 140 comes along.

That sounds like a plan EZ :D My 70 deserves some 5-start treatment after the 40 years of hardship

Howdy Fellas!

Busy day! My alter-ego "classiccat" worked on the snowthrower this morning...now safe/easy enough for the Admiral to use when I'm out of town on biz during a blizzard :thumb:

The homestead finally has a clear-path of grass for me to get the trailer from the back of the property and start the tear-down.

Life may be throwing me a little curve-ball in the not-so-distant future...a pitch that may require the SC to be mobile.

This isn't going to cut it...

Suspension is hosed...

Clean Slate!

Keel rollers & carpeted bunks are in this trailer's the future. I love the idea of low-maintenance...so I'll be cleaning this up and hitting it with Mothers.

Question: Where would you guys shop for the undercarriage, suspension & axle? A galvanized piece of angle with the spring holders welded on would be the ticket...just having a tough tough time finding one. I think i can get the axle kit from Tractor Supply; 63" from the 2 hub-faces.

Thanks for stoppin' by!

p.s. Ken might be stoppin' by the hanger for more rivet action! Stay Tuned!

Nice work BF.

TSC will have a hub to hub 60" axle with the spring perches welded on for around $180 out the door. I don't remember seeing any with the springs or that angle channel.

Tractor or Northern Tool. Measure the spring perches too. Looks like the springs are on their last legs, too.

Got a trailer shop near? Toss the whole thing in the truck or utility trailer and let them look at it.

EDIT - Northern does carry hub to hub kits, including springs. The angle for the spring mounts is a local welding shop job.

Axle Kits: Trailer Axle Supplies | Trailer Axles | Trailers + Trailer Parts | Northern Tool + Equipment

Thanks guys!

the spring centers are 51.25".

I found the exact match at Redneck Trailers...but I do have a local trailer shop down the road; HUGE fan of supporting the local small businesses.

I would like the undercarriage to be galvanized...i recall welders being a bit squeamish around galvanized metal...literally :puke:

Ken's arrival is contingent on the quantity of Guiness consumed during this evening's belated St. Patty's day Fest

Welding galvanized can be sickening. I think it's the zinc. Maybe Ken is :puke:ing.

I didn't see if the Trailer Depot thing has perches.

Very true..... ya don't really want to breathe in those fumes.

We use Richfield Trailer Supply for all our trailer needs around here. They have anything you could want, including free freight for minimum purchase.

AHH trailer work, the necessary evil. How come your beer is sitting on the landscape tie and not in the little pile of snow staying cold!! ;):D

Nice and clean there BF --- always nice to get rid of the cruddy parts and although personally I not a big fan of trailer work... it generally is 10 times quicker to do than the boat --- so progress is swift with pain minimized!!! :) Looks like a good starting point there.

Thanks WnW! I'll check them out! I plan to get as much from iboats as possible...bunk/roller HW, etc. I found the undercarriage that I want...just have to decide on 13" or 14" tire. :noidea:

Bah...good catch Glen! And the snow would keep it from being kicked-over...like what happened to that bottle's predecessor

Thanks Jim! Hope that you had a great Birthday!

This trailer work wasn't bad at all....a MONSTER 1/2" electric impact blows through everything; the bolt will either shear or unbolt with the same amount of effort

The galvanized frame just needs a good scrub and she'll be ready for finishing work.

EDIT: keel roller / bunk setup that I'm planning...to the T :D

EDIT2: Good article on Galv cleaning...I'm to preserve the "patina".
