Re: MFG rebuild getting started pics

I can't explain it but the closer you get to finishing your boat, the harder it is to finish your boat. I STILL have a LOT of little things left to do on the BF and am being pulled in a hundred different directions. I used to be sooooo focused. I'm hoping in the spring I'll get re-focused on the boat an finally get her Completed. Hang in there Sam...You'll get there!!!!

Todays update . All I did was pull up a chair and spent most of the day grinding/filing/sanding the aluminum hinges for the seats.

I hope these don,t look too hand made when I am done ..
Gotta drill all the holes and then decide If I will shine them or just paint them. It would prolly be easier to paint but then I would have to paint the mounting nuts and bolts also . :decision::decision:

Maybe slightly scuffed to give them the look of brushed aluminum..... Or paint them & use SS hardware.....

Or w/ a large breezeway 'garage' workshop, DIY powdercoat w/ a cheap craigslist oven? Brackets & hardware both......

DIY prep & mask only may keep the cost of farming out the powdercoating lower....

White brackets would look great against the vinyl...

BTW: Brackets look great!

I may try and shine them first and see how that goes ..
Powder coat sounds cool . Has anyone used one of those elcheapo HF powder coat rigs ?

No toaster oven but we do have a ceramics kiln that I have not run the power for yet . I guess my daughters old easy bake oven might not get quite hot enough ..:lol:
Actually it doesn,t look that hard to do . Kinda not in the budget though .

Well if I do name it it will prolly be named after my mother . After all she spit me out , raised me , put up with all my foolishness, and I know I got all my creative skills from her . So how does the Miss Lois or the Miss Margret sound . She goes by Lois her middle name .

The seat brackets look great.. Get you a good flap wheel and make them brushed aluminum style and polish them like Wood said or put a clear coat on them..
The name's you chose sound good.. I kinda like Miss Margret.. Just my thought..

Not enough time to shoot a second coat on tonight I,ll do it in the morning . Not sure if I can start the finish paint tomorrow . I may just shoot the inside white and start getting the stripes layed out and taped off then shoot the top Sunday .
Cheers everyone !

Re: MFG rebuild getting started pics

Shined up the hinge pieces . Put one together . A little primitive but I think it will be functional . The bottom nut holding the flat angled piece will be replaced with a wingnut to allow for reclining .

In the reclined position the the flat piece will swing down and wingnut fastened to a support leg that will hinge off the back of the seat . The hamster is still working on on the support legs.:)
