Re: MFG rebuild getting started pics

Sorry about the loss of your pup/friend. We went through the same thing a couple of years ago... Definitely a challenge.

I like the dash piece. I think it will be perfect. It gives you some extra mounting space, but will keep that bow area nice and vented, so wet life jackets and such can dry out quickly and not mildew.

If you can afford them, adjustable trim tabs w/ a helm mounted up/down switch would be great in lots of differing water conditions. Smart tabs would be a MUCH less expensive option:

SX Smart Tabs
$120 here at iboats for 15-19ft 60-15hp boats.

Have these on my Bayliner 16' hard top. Really does a great job, and I like the adjustability of the strut leverage, and if you need more or less than what the adjustment holes can provide, you can swap in heavier or lighter struts. Mine are going on 4 years and all was well until last week when I hung one up on the bottom launching the boat off a trailer on the beach (no ramp). One eyelet at the pivot point cracked. I will fix it by putting a length of aluminum bar around the broken eyelet and that should do it. Good product. Even after I goobered it up by hitting bottom off the trailer.

Thanks for all the kind words guys . Loosing pets are just a part of life I guess . It seems the older I get the more these thing get to me .

OK back to the boat . The stain I used was some I had for staining decks and fences . Do you think I should put some of this polyurethane over it . I'm not real sure if the two products are compatible .

I also glued in some wood block under the dash for bulkhead fastening . Used pb and will tab a little csm on them tomorrow .I think a closed in bow has got to be in the top 5 worst places to work on a boat hands down !

I just read up and sorry about Cocoa SP! These furry friends are family and it's hard to let them go, but as like all those gone before us I am sure they are in a good place!!!

Sorry to hear about your Dog!!! Been there done that! On the Stain and Poly if they both clean up with the same thing then it's A-OK. If the stain is water based then let it dry 48 hrs before hitting it with the poly.

Poly clean up ms , stain soap and water .. I'll give it a couple days .. Thanks Woody !
Ya know the white gell I put on the deck sure stains easily . Is there a sealer or something that I should put on it . I left it under an oak tree one night and and the leaves let stains everywhere . I got it clean with some cleaner with bleach . I have even thought about some sort of deck paint to seal it . Any suggestions ?

Mark42 makes them . These are the same ones that Jon Sob installed on his boat. Where is Jon anyway !
Ya know a have seen them all black . I was thinking black letters and sp green shark . Chrome painted flat part in the middle and black ridge around the shark .. I have even seen the letters red with black shark .

Re: MFG rebuild getting started pics

Thats a great start ! I am thinking the letters need to be black for sure .. Maybe green middle flat part , white skark, black ridge around shark...

Does the itchy stuff ever end?

Just a little battery pad built up so I don't have to fasten through the deck . And it will keep water from puddling up behind the battery ..
