Nice! (y)

I would think the isolator is so that the battery can charge both battery banks.

What might be happening is one motor feeds isolator and charges it's Bat along with House.

Only thought if this is I thought is can this have an issue with the PCM have a possible voltage drop of 0.7V

Nah, that could never cause a problem, right @tpenfield ? When do you splash?

Insurance starts 1 April, but all I have to do is call them and have it start sooner. My guess is it will be sooner. Have taxes and family out of town stuff this week so we'll see

Thinking about going with Boca Shade and mount on the hardtop

Not having a factory covers means I need to drill and install snaps, so think I'm going to go the summer and decide how and where I want them. Then this fall have the covers made

No understand
Has a 3 bank charger and 3 bats. Which is charging both?
My bad . . . forgot about the twin engines. I am wondering if there are several isolators. Is it one battery per engine, plus one house battery?

Chappy provides decent manuals and documentation with their boats (right?)

What sort of info did you get on the electrical system?

I'm still trying to figure out the system on my boat, even after a year of ownership :ROFLMAO:

Have discussed prior using it under the top
Need snaps or something else for bow cover and when windshield is not available

There are no manuals, only install instructions for items installed. Have owners manual for motors. Don't even have manual for radio. Going to call dealer and find out if they did give me everything they should have

Looks like the owner's manual (online download) is not much use. Probably your next step is the dealer or if they have a tech support group, similar to Formula's TAG.

Also there is a Chappy owner's forum that was/is fairly active.

One thing I did with my Cobalt after I bought it is I emailed Cobalt for a wiring diagram and they emailed me one for my year and model. It's main usefulness is show where all the connectors are and how they are labeled. Nice thing about Cobalt is they wire every boat the same so every option has a connector somewhere.

I'll try that and Chap does appear to do same thing. The breaker panel has labels for the other options

Just called Chap and they don't give out that information. REALLY

Would provide info on certain areas of concern, so I asked about the Isolator. Now I wait

You have a picture of the isolator?

On many boats with 3 batteries, people just put in a couple ACRs.

Another BTW, have a friend that bought a Cobalt R4 and had to have his brand new boat's transom rebuilt. I probably won't be buying a new Cobalt after Malibu bought them.

That is frustrating. My Sea Ray came with a wiring diagram and parts book. When I needed a fuel tank sender it had the OEM manufacturer and part number on it.

Don't have a Pic but looks just like the one I removed from the formula, just 2 bank and not 3

Call mercury and tech said the isolator will not be an issue with the motors. Might replace with ACR anyway, less chance of over charging.

It came with lead acid Bats so they will be leaving in couple years maybe and replace with agm

Chap said
both engines go to the battery switch and that is where the isolator is at.

Note there are only 2 Bat switches. One for motors and one for house and they are on starboard side AFT door. The isolator is on port side transom

Looks like I'll be unbolting things and have a look

I'd be real careful about touching/changing anything while the boat is new, as there would be warranty implications, even though what you touch may be unrelated to any warranty claim.

Lots of exclusions and cause for voiding listed in the warranty section of the OSX owner's manual.

More Fun
Dealer has to order Gel so not going to get it back this week

Verado manual states to use AGM Bat at least 800 MCA, Chap installed Lead Acid. So they saved what, 200, gee wiz
