Performs good, docking crappy, emergency steering is crap, fuel use averages around 2 to the Gal. Will stay with outboards because I don't want to deal with CAT's

Is there not an option for the fancy joystick docking control, on those fancy engines ? I’m not too familiar with the new formula models, what would you be looking for from them, in an ideal world ? I think there is a huge gap in the market needing filled by an option from some of the quality boat brands…in the 25-30ft weekender/cruiser market…specifically outboard powered. Was glad to see fairline having a go at it over here. They are one of our top quality brands over here. Princess need to follow suit. Have a look at this lovely thing from fairline. Can’t remember the money involved, but it’s likely eye watering for sure.

Ok, then I suppose you intend to use your boat in the winter and still have an all around view while cruising and keeping wind and water at bay.
I have a cuddy but frisky doesn't knock too often these days unfortunately.

Every now and again we would get caught out in crumby weather in one of our old bowriders. We had the full canvas for it, but not visibility like that. Looks really sharp AD.

Me being me,..I sacrificed lots of practicality, for the sake of aerodynamics and mph ! Haha.
Even at that though, despite keeping to the same rake and angle, off the windshield and a sharp angle to the rear back down, she won’t manage much over 60 mph with the cover up.
Interestingly though, she drops her pace further again, if the back section is opened up or not fully studded down. Amazing the dynamics at work there, usually unseen. You can actually see a difference in shape, off the vortices created by the cooling water that exit from the side exhausts. Suppose that’s why coupe style cars have a sloping profile towards the rear. The back seats will actually get spray inducted over the stern, presumably from a lower pressure area behind the boat !
Anyway…I digress, as I tend to do !

In the process of taking the Helm apart to install FELL 1stMate man overboard and VHF. More Chap crap, the boat isn't a year old and the vinyl is coming unglued.

There is fiberglass dust every where, and seeing the hack job done to cut the openings, my guess is helm was installed and a roto zip or other cut the openings.

My 1995 Rinker had better quality control then this one

I have done a bunch of work on my Cobalt under the dash. I don't really see stuff like that.

What I am having issues with is a Garmin problem. One of my Garmins lost NEMA 2000 connectivity. That took a while to diagnose since it took down the NEMA network on both my devices so I was without gauges. Now I just use the one for navigation and the other one is strictly gauges and depth sounder.

Problem is, the Garmin I have is discontinued and nothing fits the same hole. I have designed a 3D printed adapter I will need to use if the other one fails.

Had a somewhat other type issue. Close to end of the year the left display stopped showing the depth sounder. Switched to right side and all good. Other then that not much else

Is that the mercury man overboard system AF ? The one that aligns with the smartcraft network ? The occupants wear the wrist bands ? Been wondering about getting that

Yes smartcraft and nema 2000, I got just the on fob. Don't know if I'll get others, don't see the need yet.

Yep, quite a chop job in the helm. While it probably doesn't effect mounting the instruments Ii speaks loudly for the quality of construction.
Be careful you don't cut your hands up messing with it.

Excellent. So will that act in place of the kill switch lanyard ? Must look into it further. Was aware you can get wrist bands for the occupants that alert if someone goes overboard.
Possibly indicating where they are on screen too perhaps ?
Your dash looks lovely there. See you’re sporting the simrad units (exactly the same as the mercury branded vessel view unit). Do you have the active trim or smart tow systems fitted AD ?

No one shows up on a screen. There is a phone app which can setup when it shuts off and what happens after.

As before, yes can use passenger fobs but I'm not doing them. If I had a larger boat and doing troll fishing or such, maybe then

Supposedly, they are starting to enforce using it on Lake Tahoe. We are a Coast Guard enforced lake and the local Sheriffs and Lake police will also be enforcing the law. I am using one if I can remember to attach it.

You are only required to have it attached at planing speeds.
