Wow Gus just checked back in since I've been gone a while.

Your glass work looks very professional. I have been delivering to a few of the boat works here in my area (and now that I am aware of boat (re)construction here at iboats, i deliver to Champion, MB Sports, Sanger, Malibu, Calabria all these places glass boats in Merced Ca. Your stuff looks just as good.

I wish I could glass as well, I turn most of my resin into a rock before it gets to the cloth.

Hi Gus,

It's been a while since I've been online and I've only just caught up with your thread. Progress is going good, have you got a target splash date yet?

Happy (much belated) birthday!

Uhhmm , whats up Gus ? Not sure if you have room for a pole barn .. Maybe BBE II ?
Pole barn will definitely have to wait until I get a suitable piece of land, but BBE II may make an encore appearance...
Then again, it may not...:tape2:

I'm glad you caught that ever so slight hint of a future restore, Sam...I think he's holdin' out on us..Aw carp-who am I kidding...I got the next one lined up too, but I need some time without the smell of resin. Heck, my neighbor 4 houses down can "smell" when I'm glassin'! Maybe if we catch him at a weak moment he'll spill the beans??????
Not really holding out...more like holding out hope for the stars to properly align...

Multiple Boat Syndrome (MBS) can strike anyone at anytime. Y'all be careful out there, ya hear!

In spirit, I have had MBS since shortly after beginning this project...
Just haven't had everything fall into place to make it a reality...YET!

Hmmm

Interesting developments over on Bassassin Blvd, invisible boat work and possible additions to the boathouse

Is getting the Admiral on-board one of the major components of the celestial alignment necessary?

Have a great week! Boat work or no boat work, you'll be thinkin' 'bout & noodlin' out what needs to be done the step after next. So it counts!

The boathouse continues to be more of a fantasy than reality...
Definitely YES, the acceptance and approval of the Admiral is required! This is definitely NOT a situation where asking for forgiveness would be better than asking for permission...
And the old noodle is definitely giving the hamster a serious workout...:peep:

Thanks Dave, glassin is just one of those things that the more of it you do, the easier it becomes...:biggrin1:

Thank you Mark...How's "Bumblebee" doing?
I regret to say that my target splash date is about as sure as you can push a rope...but hope reigns supreme that it will be so before I am called to meet the Maker...;)

Happy Thursday, gang!

It's going great Gus thanks. I had some great times in it last summer, and I'm ready to pull her out the water as soon as the weather picks up for servicing.

Bassassin is looking great. How's things going with the tower of power? I've got one 80% rebuilt sitting in the garden waiting for some loving in the summer. The paint job on yours looks great :)

Yes, I'll wager the "Bumblebee" was loads of fun and you are probably quite anxious to get it serviced and ready for another summer of fun...
The old Tower of Power's Power Head is sitting patiently in its box, along with a bunch of parts and pieces scattered about, awaiting completion of the splash well and a few other details on the hull, before I can start to hang all the bits back on...

Thank you, Patrick...
The fuel tank is a 27 gallon behemoth that I scored from CW and I decided to try my hand at giving it a little shine...don't really expect it to last, but it felt good to do it...
I am definitely stoked to keep moving ahead...been doing a lot of brainstorming, just waiting for some fruiting of the greenback bush and I'll be moving onward...:)
Hope you guys get a break in the weather, soon!

Happy, soon to be Friday, y'all!:D

GT, wonder if that Miricalefruit stuff works on the greenback bush? May have to give that a try!

I sure like what you've done with your tank and tank hold! All looks TOP NOTCH or TOP SHELF. I like the TOP SHELF stuff, costs more, but tastes better!

My old tub has twin 12 gal tanks that look brand new. Still gonna flush 'em and seal 'em too (I think). Having a tough time finding the original sending units for them. Guess I'll try AM.

Anyway: Great job so far Bud! :clap2:

Wow! I can't believe it's been almost 2 weeks sine I did anything to my tub-o-glass-n-wood...

Anyhooo, as previously mentioned, the Benjamin tree still needs to produce some fruit so supplies are still low at the moment...

Was able to pick up one gallon of resin to begin the wrapping and installation of the fuel locker cross bulkheads and begin working on something that has bugged me since I began this project...

The gaps shown below, where the cap NEVER fit properly and had been filled with an ENORMOUS amount of sealant to fill the gaps...

I had already planned on restructuring the splash well since the original design did not leave me any access to the stern eye bolts, so cutting it apart and making the gaps go away seemed like the logical course of action...

At the present time, the splash well has been cut out and I put a couple of straps to pull everything tight...
Nothing is final yet, since I have to make a few more adjustments...

They don't show well in the pics, but there is over an inch of separation on each one...

Starboard Gap...

Port Gap...

Starboard Gap pulled tight...

Port Gap pulled tight...

Fuel Locker Bulkhead, getting wrapped in CSM...

And Installed...

That's it for now...
Hope everyone is having a super weekend!

Thanks for stopping by, gang...

Getting a slow start this A.M., but in a bit I am headed to the shop, where the "Bassassin" is patiently awaiting my return...
Let's see if I can get anything else accomplished in a quick couple of hours...
Till Later, hope everyone is having an awesome Sunday!:D

Re: Love, Necessity and Pride

Sunday update on a Monday...

Went to the shop and decided to do a little more than I originally planned...

First off I applied some 1708 tabbing to the aft fuel locker cross bulkhead...

Afterwards I decided to make a template for the splash well bulkhead...

Then cut them out and fit them out of 3/4" Ply...

Got them all rounded over and they are currently at the shop, fully wrapped in CSM, for water resisting, and drying...

That's it...every little bit forward is one less step backward...:)

Have an awesome week, Iboaters...:D

Uhhhh, whaddaya think?

You should know by now I can't leave well enough alone...

Actually, yeah, I am gonna change it up...
It used to drain in the center, now it will drain to the sides, it was also much larger before, this time it will be a fair amount smaller and maybe not as deep...

Anyhow, here is a shot of the two bulkhead pieces after they have been encased in CSM and just placed in their future permanent positions...
