Saw the plume on the way in, but we're staying about 10 miles East. There were a lot of evacuation notices the night we got here, but they all cleared the next morning; and it sounds to me like the locals were mostly allowed to go back home. Getting around the area hasn't been any problem; and we've not run into anything in the park yet. But I am watching the alerts to try to stay pretty clear of all of it.

Approximately 300 structures "affected," but not all of them were destroyed (I've heard around 100). A couple of injuries but no deaths in the fires up in the Smokies. Sounds like the crews have them mostly controlled at this point - but they were having a couple of very dry days again (which is what caused two of the fires in the first place).

We had a great time, none-the-less. Didn't catch anything fishing the rivers, but saw some beautiful areas:
