Re: Just starting out.

Wow. You may have a hot boat, literally. That's interesting. Were you right on the year of it and all that? It's a nice looking boat, by the way.

Re: Just starting out.

I do not believe it is hot. The local police dept. signed off on everything as far as the HIN # goes. No I did not find the exact year of the thing I am going by the previous registration.

Re: Just starting out.

That HIN site should have told you the month and year it was made. But it's the last two numbers of the HIN number.

Re: Just starting out.

I was wondering if the first pic is structural or cosmetic? the others I was wondering if I should grind out and place the deck on the hull up to the tip or leave as is?

Re: Just starting out.

Just get rid of it now. Make sure you take a lot of good pictures and make measurements/marks as to where everything was, so that you know how to rebuild any pieces that come out.

Trust me, get the grinding done now, and scuff EVERYTHING really well. Your glassing will go beyond just what was done to hold those stringers and floor into place most likely, and if you don't clean the glass up, you'll end up with this potentially....

Re: Just starting out.

also my neighbor has a few new sheets of 4 ply 3/8 plywood I was wondering if I could glue and then glass these together for my stringers and be good to go?

Make sure it's exterior plywood. Interior will fall apart when it gets wet. You can get a test sample and soak it in a bucket for a while (at least a day) and if it's still good then boil it on the stove for at least 15 minutes. Let it cool in the pot and try to pull the layers apart. If it's interior ply it'll just fall apart.

Re: Just starting out.

thanks srimes I work at Lowes so I am trying to wait and find some pieces that they will discount. cause i can get a better price. red thank you as well. thank you for the advise I was pretty sure I was going to grind this out. I also plan on running my deck all the way to the hull. something that was not done:mad: previously.there were pretty good indentations in the glass around the edges instead of the ply going to the hull.
