We've got family in Ocala and Crystal River and they're all staying put. Prayers to everybody staying and evacuating. Stay safe!

We're at a break time with our preps. Nap time, actually. My energy level is down and I need to recharge.

The spaghetti models are all over the place for Irma. Argh.

I'm NE of Dallas about half way to Okieland. About 9AM the wind was rousted from a dead calm and has been oscillating a few mph since, with the oscillations now peaking at 8 mph and rising (4 PM). They started at S by E and now are ESE. That storm is just now around the Cuba area. Must be 1500 miles to the eye. This is going to be bad. Hope the Floridians have the sense to leave which will save the 8000 FEMA workers sent down there hopefully some life threatening tasks doing rescue work.

I'm a USAF vet. We don't do foxholes. Lemme know when it's time to do this.

That's the second time this week I've heard a quote from that movie. Now Im going to have to try to watch it.

On a side note one of my jobs when I was in the Air Force was to ensure the delivery of the EAMs to all the correct people and places. Nothing like an EAM to ruin your fellow mans day!

Ya'll stay safe!!!!!l

Well, my strong young buddy injured his back and won't be able to help us board up our place. He came over this evening and gave me some advice though. My wife is concerned that I might have a heart attack if I try to do it myself. Could be.

So for tomorrow we'll concentrate on stockpiling water and getting other stuff done.

There isn't enough room in our garage to hold the Kingfisher, the Chieftain and my wife's car at the same time. I'm thinking of putting the KF next to a tree and chaining it up to that and then partially filling it with water to add weight. I also considered putting it upside down, turtle style, outside and anchoring it to the ground, but I don't have enough ground anchors to do that. There are no more ground anchors available for sale anywhere around here now. All gone.

Scott,

2 questions:

1. Where's your boat?
2. What are those shutters and how do you use them and put them in place, take them down when finished, store, and all that? Seems like a neat idea just looking at it from the camera's view.

Nice house. Stay safe.
