Wow!!! CONGRATS OOPS!!!

You must have felt like a daddy holding his child for the first time!

So have you already named it? I think "Murphy's Law" would be appropriate.

She looks good. I bet you feel like a new dad does when he finally gets to see the kid for the first time. Keep at it, you are done with the hard part......we hope!!!

P.S. Couldn't you have bought a cheap can of spary paint to touch up that trailer just for the moment..........it is a shame to see such a beautiful boat on that old rusty trailer. J/K.

What's the next step?

what? ....besides clean out the shop?...

the motor mounts need to be cut to legnth, and fiberglassed in....

then the boat will go to the mechanics to have the motor installed......

when that happens, the transom is going to be a major issue.....as the transom is waaaaayyy too thick for a conventional set up......

not only is it too thick.....it is not the same thickness in all areas of the transom.....and the t plate needs to be of set strict tollerances....

so cutting out the hole for the out drive will be a real pita.......

onced the hole is cut....ill use a router set a depth to flange to inside edge to thickness.

after the motor is in.....and water tryals prove a failure or sucessful.....the interior will be started on.

most of the interior, is an easy thing to do.....just fabbing some benches out of fiberglass.....

the dash board....is a different story....i really dont know how to do that....as i have to sculpt the shape out of foam.....then glass the shape....then gellcoat that.....so that project will be a month or two in the making.....

there is still lots to do on the boat.....it is by no means finished.....but a major phase is now complete

Hey Oops, for the dashboard, what about cutting it out of a nice-grained piece of wood, coated in marine spar? A little bit of wood accent might set off the rest of your boat nice.

Just a thought-- I'm thinking of doing that for my old boat (right now my dash is ply covered in vinyl-- that kinda cheesy '70's look).

Re: hull extension in progress with picks

here are the pics of the float i promised........

floatingsetone064.jpg

my camera doesnt work so well at night........when robj gets here we might just re float it in the day and really have a good look at er and get some decent pics

floatingsetone066.jpg

in this one.....you can see how high she sits in the water.....this is a major thing for me....as i thought the weight would be a huge factor.

floatingsetone061.jpg

the cap also needs some minor work besides fairing......but no big deal

floatingsetone068.jpg

then tackelwasher and i loaded her back up and went to celebrate in the eldorado lounge.

Man what a monster! looks a mile long. I love it.

Congratulations man, I hope your arm isn't too sore from patting yourself on the back because you deserve it.

I have a buddy who is excellent with custom f/g work like your dash. Let me know if you want his info to brainstorm with. He built a full f/g bodied car by hand.

ill be gabbing one outta glass and gellcoating it...the dash board will wrap around the side and all the way down to the shifter, in a flowing motion.......i might add a wood grain back panel for the gauges....but i cant see it with the theme of the boat...but once the dash is fabbed....ill be trying different things to see how they look

The boat looks great - like the limo version of the original. Can't wait to see it with the V8 and moving. Great job. It's an inspiration.

Thanks

Been following along for months... boat looks great!

I adjusted the lighting levels on the photos from last night and re-attached.

Superb.
