Re: hull extension in progress with picks

Good to see progress there oops!

I'm with RF, what are you thinking on the rod holders? I'm putting horizontal rod holders from the gunnel to deck in my fishing barge, still not sure exactly how I'm going to do it though.

Hey oops,
Glad to see your progress. That engine should really move that thing. Everything looks great.
I don't think anyone will hold some slight indiscretions against you. Just crop them out of the pic's next time.
Glad to see you back at it.

Re: hull extension in progress with picks

im glad some people are getting inspration from this.....that was the idea....good or bad....:D

as far as the rod holders go.....the idea is so simple....block off the under side of the gunwhales......and store stuff there!

the hole will be covered by a hinged upholstery panel. run the wires thru a tube attached to the underside of the gunwhale.

Glad to see you're back. It's like you've been in hibernation and now (appropriatly) it's spring and you are back.

Great photos. What's up with what looks like chips of fiberglass missing on the cap?

We haven't been in the 40's yet, but it's coming.

Re: hull extension in progress with picks

You should try doing something like Thrill did with his rod holders...give the tips something to slide into that way you can pull one out of the hole instead of all of them because the ends are all tangled up from bouncing around.

Re: hull extension in progress with picks

Oops...unless somebody can tell me why I shouldn't Gel Coat my deck, I'm leaning that way. Not sure if you go over that in this thread or not(if so can you point me where??) but I'm trying to get a game plan together before I do this.

Is this a 1 coat type of thing, when rolling it?
Do I roll then tip this stuff, or just roll it?
Best type of roller for the job?
Do you roll it in pretty thick?
Any good prep recommendations? I'm going to grind down all the seems and try and get things as smooth as possible. Should I scratch the whole surface, with maybe 120 grit?

Anything else you can add would be great..

Thanks

Re: hull extension in progress with picks

one step forward and ten steps back !.

there is one city that scares the heck out of any boater in western canada that orders parts......

that place is called fond du lac.......its the giant black hole of boat parts......any part from there takes months to get. .....and thats where all of my brackets have to come from.

we have been having real problems with the mounting of the alternator and power steering pump. due to the size of the alternator and the location of it....we are having problems finding all the correct brackets.

in the mean time we robbed some from a motor sitting on a shelf here. so we will use that till the parts arrive.

ill try to up load the latest pic run soon,,,but today is a big day!
