Jay, you're more like a boat "re-manufacturer" than a restorer. Truly awesome job!

Great looking work Jay, glad to see that you are almost there! Love the gelcoat...how are you going to put in the snap in carpet without drilling through the gel / glass? Maybe you mentioned that and I just missed it.

Jay,
Well, it sure is nice to see the father son duo at work. Your gel-coated deck looks awesome too, I can only imagine how freakin' hot it was under the boat cover with the fumes kickin' ya in the face the entire time. Anyway, great work!!!

Over-Hulled is one beautiful boat. She looked great on the outside from day one, but now that interior area is just amazingly gorgeous.

The next major milestone is to hear that captain's call announce her arrival.

J very unselfish of you to take the time during the re-build to document and show your craftsmanship That Ray is a keeper for sure now everyone of those vid's should become stickies just for thier educational value alone.

Don't worry guys, I will video the ceremony for sure. I am sure we will look funny out at the lake doing it, but who cares.

Best resto thread I have ever seen. The videos even put it in front of the hull extension thread (also an iconic thread). I think most of us are secretly hoping the boat falls off of the trailer so we can watch you restore it all over again. It's gonna suck for us when you are done.

Re: Here I go again!! 1995 Sea Ray 220 Signature Deck and Stringer Restoration

We made lots of headway yesterday. I got done with work at about two and Dad came over to see what we could get done. We wrestled the outdrive up to the boat and by some miracle got it seated and filled with oil. One that was done I ran the wires for the Corsa Exhaust and tested the functions (will make a video of that later). When I cam time to cut the holes for the Corsa we ran into some issues. Where I wanted them to come out originally would not have any "fall" to the pipes. That might allow water to run back into the engine. So we relocated them and then started thinking that they might be below the water line. We packed up and took her to the lake to do out "float test". The tips are going to be perfect in the new location, and the boat looked good in the water. Hopefully we will get a test fire today.

I found this picture the other Day and I wanted to post it.

All we did was test float it, and we did not fire it off. That will be today if everything goes right.

Here is the Video

Jay,

A very hearty CONGRATS. Truly an inspirational thread! Your "custom" boat looks fantastic floating on the water. The smile on your face as you were pulling the trailer out was the most natural, most relaxed, most relieved smile in the entire thread and was well worth seeing. I am embarrassed to admit that when I saw the boat floating, heard your dad say "bone dry", then saw the smile on your face, I let out a rather loud "hell yea Jay!" here at the office and a tear came to my eye.

WELL DONE SIR!

Continued good luck, success and satisfaction and keep those smiles coming.

Sincerely,
Brian

Look at how high she sits in the water without any wet foam weighing her down. Do you have any before pictures of her stance. I wonder how a tank full of gas will change that.

I bet you when you put that boat through it's paces it will fly. it looks fast sitting still.
