Yep. Got a lowball offer of $2500.00. Does anyone know what I should expect to get for this is reality?

Here you would NEVER see a boat that age, that is that clean, because of salt water use. I'd hate to sell it as nice as it is. I bet if you could find someone into classic Glastrons, it would sell, to someone who wants a classic Glastron, there are probably not many that nice, with a NEW transom, deck replacement, re-power etc.

Getting back to the how to foam debate, I still say, coat the finished stringers with either epoxy resin, or an epoxy barrier paint, used for boat bottoms to prevent blisters, then just foam it before installing the deck, cut off the excess and install the deck. Best you can do. Especially if you use something like 3M 5200 to glue down the deck and limit the # of penetrations, and seal em all up well like we know you will Jay....

In WI it would be snapped up quick at that price around the madison area. My neighbor has a 14 ft v hull with a 20hp for $2500. Boats are pricey here.

Hey Jay,
Arrow fastener makes stainless steel staples to fit there staple guns. Its a T50. Also try www.stainless-nails-brads-staples.com.
Might check with local fastener compines like Fastenal.
IMHO I don't see why you couldn't use regular staples. They will be covered by the poly. If you pull all the staples out then you will need to seal all the little holes they leave behind.
BTW did you look at Costco's 12' x 20' canopy. They have one on display at the store in Duncanville. It is really nice.

My local HD has the SS staples. The canopy is a NoNO in my neighborhood. We all have an understanding right now while I rebuild the boat, but it will have to go to my shop once it is done. So I am trying to keep a low profile.

Well I have a couple of days off and I am going to get the rest of the grinding done (deck lip and carpet glue). I got a new tyvek suit yesterday and I am ready to go.

Hey Jay,
did you figure a out what you are going to use to remove the glue? I was very successful with a just 36 grid grinding disc on a backing plate.

I think that is what I am going to have to do. Most chemicals said do not use on fiberglass.

I just might do that.

So I got the majority of the grinding done today, and all I have to do it get the rest of the retched carpet glue out. I have ruined 5 or six 36 grit wheels with gum and the goof off does not work very well. I think I am going to try M.E.K. tomorrow.

I have a question about Deck thickness. You will see in the first video that I put down a temporary deck to walk on today. It was 1/2" ply, and felt really flimsy. Am I sure I want to use this?

I just put a 1/2" deck in mine, felt super flimsy as I was test fitting... as soon as I glassed it in, there is no flex at all that I can notice. Hope that helps.

I dunno Jay, you've come this far building everything up to be really strong...I say go 3/4". Why risk it..if you lose 1/2 mph on the top end b/c of the extra plys...but have that piece of mind that you've make it rock solid...which would you rather have?

I'm sure the glass will do wonders...but its a big boat with some decent spans to cover...the kids will keep growing, bringing friends, etc, etc...

Seperate question.

Noticed you use CSM and Woven on the keel repair. Why not just use 1708 since you already have plenty?

I know it's too late now but was going to suggest that you use those swim nooddles(foam) cut in half to make drainage path, they already have a hole in the center. Glad you got it all done though, i am liking the work you have done on the boat.

I just liked the beefy nature of the woven and the hull seams to be made with it. Probably should have used 1708.

Nope!! They are getting a little more lax, but they still are tough. Now my lawn is one of the nicest on the block and I really keep the house looking nice, so they tend to leave me alone. The members know what I am going through and they are really being cool about it . The only reason I could keep the Glastron there is because it fit BEHIND the fence, and the Sea Ray towers over it. It can be seen from anywhere.

The problem is that without an HOA here is Texas, people will park cars on their lawns, and regress to caveman status.
