SAw one ad that stated "just needs a $57 head gasket, easy fix"

maybe on a 4 cyl volvo with its simple rubber timing belt
but not so simple on a V8 with timing chains.

where do you find new parts for volvo penta engines for $57

I like these really informative ads, no price, no description, no pics, no info, no title, no motor.....I take that the trailer is also extra.
It all equals no sale in my book.

Re: Funny "TLC needed" boat ads on Craigslist.

I got a kick out of this one. 19 tires wow!!

5x8 enclosed trailer, beat up

Date: 2010-04-26, 1:50PM
I've got an old EZ-Haul 5x8 trailer I'd like to move asap. It it beat up. I used it for a few years and while pulling it back and forth across the continent blew out 7 tires, which ended up ripping off the fenders on both sides. Luckily soon after the 13th tire blew I realized it just needed bigger tires so that is what you see on it now. While the fenders were ripping off they took off the bolts that held them flush with the green plastic siding, and now the siding is loose on both sides due to that and other factors due to aging. Also while blowing out 19 tires, some cosmetic metal bumper pieces were mangled. No big deal. It would occasionally leak, but never bad enough or consistent enough in placement to warrant fixing the leaks. It carried a bunch of pricey music gear, stuff that shouldn't get wet, but I just moved things around accordingly and never had a real problem with it. Those leaks now pale in comparison to other injuries the thing has sustained...
The last time it was used was June '09, driving from Salem, Massachusetts to Seattle in a straight shot. After being jackknifed into the side of the van by someone other than me right after leaving Salem, it was in a sorry state. The front corner was crunched, one of the sides was nearly falling off, the doors closed a little tighter than normal, and you could see into it at multiple points while standing near it. Still it drove home just fine with a vertical board, a C-clamp and maybe some rope keeping it all together.
Since it has been sitting almost a year, one of the tires has gone flat. The tires and rims were purchased in '07 and probably have 15k to 20k miles on them. They're in good shape and should be fine, and after being pumped up the trailer could conceivably be pulled away. Other considerations... I HAVE NO TITLE. When I bought it the day before leaving on a trip (for $1200, ha!) I was given only a Bill of Sale because they seller's granddaddy misplaced the title. I figured I'd handle it when I got home, but that proved to be a headache so I just kept using it with expired plates. Even after the license plate was crumpled beyond all readability by the constantly exploding tires, no police personnel ever commented or cared. Oh yeah, it doesn't have a license plate anymore as it's laying somewhere in California along I-5. Still, I never got pulled over for anything trailer-related, they would only ask about the van registration. Take that as you will...
Now that I've dissuaded the more fair-weather vintage trailer fanatics, anyone looking for a cheap flatbed trailer or possible utility trailer / rebuild project would enjoy this. It's not much to look at, other than the fantastic elephant decals that say "Movin' On," but I'm convinced I could still take it 1000 miles tonight if I needed to. A little more road grime would find its way inside than normal, but it would go. Comes with heavy duty padlock and key, has standard 2" ball hitch, no stand, and I would LOVE to have someone take it by Thursday as I'll be leaving town on Friday.
Thanks for looking. I'll start by asking $250, who's interested enough to make an offer?

Re: Funny "TLC needed" boat ads on Craigslist.

The boat may not be bad but no title for $1800??? The worst part is that it looks to have numbers on it. I like the "YOU CAN GET YOUR OWN TITLE FROM A TITLE COMPANY" part.
It seems there's a whole lot more of these kind of ads lately?

Apparently, this woman got taken two years ago when she bought the boat and is trying to find an even bigger sucker to buy it for what she paid. Must be some trailer to be worth $3K, though.

85 capri bayliner boat for sale needs to go....out motor, gas powered. I bought my husband this boat 2 years ago as a gift and he has only taken it out once. It runs good I have the title for both the boat and trailor. we have no time for it and know that it is a good starter boat. the moter was rebuilt by the man we bought it from and is in good condition. the seats could use new some TLC. it is well worth it. the trailor alone is with 3k by itself and the boat is worth more. I am only looking to get what I paid for it. but will accept a reasonable offer. please email me if you are interested.... $3800 OBO.

I am guessing that this guy is hoping to overwhelm you so much with his humor that you won't notice that you are paying him over $1.5K to haul this junk from his property

Here is a Gulf Coast sailboat to thrill and amaze you. It has an aluminum mast and a truly ratty interior which should make a pretty good campfire. There ain't no trailer (that's how we talk OTP), just a shaky crib, and you have the pleasure of transporting it off of the property. There IS, however, a fantastic hand carved tiller handle that I would really like to keep (the original one is around somewhere, I think...) but it goes with the boat. The sails look like they have been to the last roundup, but that's probably a minor detail to people who like these things. I am told that it was built in Texas but haven't done the slightest amount of research on it.

It has a humongous (highly-technical engineering term) metal keel that should make someone very happy. Your wife or girl friend would probably be speechless with amazement (and maybe in a good way...okay, maybe not, depending on your skills of persuasion) if you brought this thing, er, fantastic beauty of the waterways to your home. If I wasn't so lazy, I would take a pressure washer to it, in order to reveal even more of it's, uh, breath-taking good looks....(706) 401-2000. Hurry, hurry, HURRY! I'm guessing that there MUST be at least two or three people somewhere on the entire planet would be thrilled to score this beauty.

Oh, and does any one need some old diesel Mercedes wagons?

Re: Funny "TLC needed" boat ads on Craigslist.

Here's an odd one: http://lancaster.craigslist.org/boa/1726522697.html

I need the floor In my 17' Bayliner Capri replaced. I want It done the right way. It was already done the wrong way and rotted out again.

I am willing to trade both of my Tee Nee boat trailers for a nice floor put In my boat In the picture.

First trailer was holding a 15' boat. It Is rated at 1200 pounds.

Second one had a 17' boat and Is rated at 1400 pounds.

Ok, If you just want to buy a trailer, It will be $300 each. Yes, I do have one title, but might have the other one too. I do not know If the lights work anymore. They both drive perfectly down the road even at 65mph.

I pass this boat in someones side yard, not 25 yards from the road on the way to a ramp on the Hudson River, that i use once in a while.

seems it has been sitting there for a LONG LONG time...

I wonder how someone could put a postive spin on its description to go into a craigslist ad.....

ha ha ha

"classic cabin cruiser, 35 ft mohagany abounds, twin motors needs a little TLC to get back in shape!" ect ect ect ha ha ha
