Re: Don S Final arrangements

I just want to confirm for everyone that I was just the one who posted. All jointly penned, and jointly achieved :)

Ayuh,.... 'n I wanta Thank You for takin' the lead on much of this arduous journey,...

It's been a long frustratin' affair, with lots of twists, 'n turns,...

When Don asked me to become a member of the Mod team here at iboats,... I felt very Honored,....

Now that the pieces are fallin' into place with this whole ordeal,...

I completely understand why I felt honored to be a member of this team,...

Nowhere on this planet is there a more Honorable group of strangers willin' to step up to the plate, to do the Right thing,...

On Thursday, I'll bow my head in Honor of Don, may he sail off with fair winds, 'n followin' seas,....

'n to Thank My God, that I've been allowed to be a part of such a Great group of guys,...

Thank you Mod Team, for allowin' me to be one of you,.... ;)

Re: Don S Final arrangements

Gentlemen, this has been a true team effort.

I feel it necessary to let the member's know........ I was called by a Detective and the first notified. I can't explain the feeling of shock and loss I felt. Basically, the moderators were the most common people called by Don's cell phone. I promised I would not "announce" Don's passing without letting his family know first. It took a long time. The moderators felt guilty that we did not announce it sooner. :( It became evident to the Moderation Team that the iboats members and Moderators were the family.

I made a comment in the Moderator forum that this has been a long arduous process. The Don thread where the moderators discussed, planned and made the arrangements is 14 pages long.

Thank you to Rick.

This was a huge team effort and Thank you iboats. Everything we did was on behalf of the member's here.

Don's cat was adopted and his final resting place is fitting for a knowledgeable man of his caliber.

Don will never be forgotten and his legacy will live on here on iboats.

Thank you all.

For all the things wrong in this country, it is so gratifying to see so much right done here. To show this kind of compassion and caring is truly moving. I wish somehow this could be turned into a lesson taught in schools across the country to show what kind of impact people can have in this world by just showing kindness, caring and compassion.....so very WELL DONE!

Mods, Thank you all for you time, caring dedication and compassion in staying the course ensuring DonS's final journey was fitting. There is no greater show of love and respect than having ones "family" see to their final arrangements. Rest in peace Don.

I wonder if Don had any idea of how much he was appreciated on this site. He will be missed.

Mods, thank you for taking the time to arrange what you did for Don. I'm sure everyone on this site wishes that they could have participated.

That is something that we all understood, and knew that if we put the need out there, we would be overrun with support and help to the point that the logistics would have been too difficult to deal with. That is why it was handled "in-house." Not because we wanted to keep you out of the loop, but because you all cared so much also. We hope you all understand that. It was about Don and not about any of us individually.

Re: Don S Final arrangements

I can think of no more befitting end/beginning to Don than what's planned.

A tip of the hat, and kudos to the mod team/family, and all those involved for putting this together for a man that most never physically sat across a table from.
If you think about it, most people have friends they physically associate with that wouldn't go to the extent of honoring the passing of their friend in the way that these "strangers" have for Don.

It really redefines the classification of what true/best friends are.

God speed Mr. Sindledecker.

Hat’s off to all iboat’s moderators and members for creating a forum where anyone in the world can join and become a unseen member to a family of friends!

Thanks Don’s for sharing all your wisdom and experience with us……R.I.P.

Thanks for going above and beyond iboats and the mod team.

I'm sure everyone on this site wishes that they could have participated.

In the thread of DonS's passing, it was mentioned that if we wanted to do something in DonS's remembrance, to make a donation to your local ASPCA. (Don was a cat lover.)

Do not stand at my grave and weep,
I am not there... I do not sleep.
I am the thousand winds that blow...
I am the diamond glints on snow...
I am the sunlight on ripened grain...
I am the gentle autumn rain.
When you waken in the morning's hush,
I am the swift uplifting rush
Of gentle birds in circling flight...
I am the soft star that shines at night.
Do not stand at my grave and cry—
I am here with you...look around.

I totally understand the crowd control. I did not mean to come off like I was criticizing. I was just trying to highlight that everyone appreciated Don and would give back if given the chance. fishrdan pointed out in the first thread suggested donating to the ASPCA. I missed that part.

Re: Don S Final arrangements

And I did not take it as you were criticizing. I just liked what you said, because it was something that the mods discussed and KNEW this great body of boaters would want to be a part. So rest assured, agallant80, it was not taken as criticism, but was a great opening to let all the iboats membership know what happened and why, not because we wanted to leave anyone out of the loop, but because we wanted to avert being overwhelmed with help we knew would be offered.
