Re: Deck coating / Turned complete restore

So I am goiong to presume that even though my boat has know stringers the few pieces of wood I have to put in the 2 on the deck sides and around the fuel tank I should treat them as stringers in the layup system

60? and above maintain that temperature until it cures and then for at least four hours afterwards you can use heat lamps if necessary the substrate and the resin both need to be at the same temperature

These are pictures of the back of my boat there is some bump outs on the top side so clamping the new transom on will be challenging.
So my idea is to cut the top lip 2" wide so the 2x4 clamp can be slide to the flattest part of the hull

The red lines and green lines is where i want to place 2x4 wood clamps.
The red lines are where the hold down rings are attached so that is at the same plane as the rest of the hull I'll just have to cut a couple inches off the top lip. the green lines there will not be any need to cut anything. there will be a 20" span from red line to green line is that to far to get a good clamp on the transom

You don't have to cut it build some 2x4 extensions to place on the outside of the hull And you can clamp onto the extension if you don't know what I mean I'll draw some drawings to explain

Ok that makes sense if I can clamp in the areas I posted I would need to make a 4" spacer st the red lines and none for the green. Is 20" apart ok span

That looks a lot better you can use double stick carpet tape to hold the 2x4 extensions in place on the transom when clamping

As previously mentioned early on in the thread I planned on putting windlass on the boat. But now I just seen a electric winch trac and Minn Kota make. My boat is only 18'6" and weighs approx 3000lbs So I figured for fishing and non emergency anchoring the electric winch seems like it would do fine. I will still keep my main anchor manual type for emergencies what do you guys think also what weight anchor 20 or 40 thanks

Ok so my plan is to use pvc to run the chases under the deck to run all the necessities. from what I have read fiberglass wont bond to great to pvc and I want to seal it where it comes up thru the floor will 5200 be sufficient or is there something better

If you use your grinder to gouge some grooves into it and then cut an oversized hole in the floor and then use PB to fill in around the pvc in the hole...It'll hold it just fine.
