Re: Check out my new ride!

You had this planned didn't you, You made the offer on the SC knowing full well the owner was hesitant on selling her, then when he backed out, old Paul would feel bad and offer you the SN for the same price. :playball:

Nope, but that story sure seems to fit nicely doesn't it!:D

A free upgrade.Who'd argue with that?

Yah, the Sea Nymph will no doubt be a bigger more capable boat:thumb:

But, it comes at a cost too. Lots more to do on it, and, a bigger engine too. I was hoping to avoid a 4 cylinder if I could but a 90 HP will likely be what I'd like to put on there. A 3 cylinder 75 HP would work fine though too.

I took a few minutes to search for an OB last night - that was a fun reminder that they are certainly worth their weight in gold:facepalm:

You need to find a nice well kept Yammy 3cyl 85 or 90 that would be the cat's meow.

Yah, no doubt, that would be sweet. The pickens are so slim around here, it's really hard to find something decent at a reasonable price. Here, check this out:

75hp Mercury 1994 Engine

Those guys are dreaming:facepalm:

I had to work hard to find that Evinrude 90 donor boat for my swapped Sea Nymph. I've not seen any kind of deal like that before that or since.

Ah well, I think given the project and the challenge of the OB hunt, I'm pretty sure this new Sea Nymph will end up behind the 261 in the production line.

A 20 year old 75 HP motor for 6k?

Of course to the guy that owns it that 20 years of age makes it a wipper snapper...

Re: Check out my new ride!

That's funny^^^.

As you know, I am partial to Sea Nymphs, so I think this will be a good rig for you. Plus, you have already restored one - soup to nuts, so you have the benefit of that experience. However, if this is not the rig you truly want - don't let the deal inertia from the failed SC transaction take you to a place you didn't really want to go. Or, given that the price is sweet, maybe trade it.

All that being said, I'd love to see you restore another Sea Nymph... I hated seeing your last one go.

Re: Check out my new ride!

This is a crazy thread.

The SN does give you more boat to play with, and could still be converted into a tiller design with nice pedestal seating for you and your fishing party.

I think 6 grand for an OB is VERY ridiculous. You could probably find a dealer with a new 4 stroke for another 3 grand.

Not saying I'd want to pay that much since I lack that kind of money but heck even this OB. Sounds crazy 6 grand.

I look forward to the Rebuild!

Too bad you are so far away, I just picked up a 75hp Johnnyrude, that would have fit the SN perfectly, but since outboards are so expensive I would be willing to help you with removing that Sea Nymph, I have been looking for my next project.

Congrats on the Jas I know you will do her right.

Let me know if OLD Paul happens to have any other OLD Tin he might be willing to part with.

Re: Check out my new ride!

Hey Jas,
Your bowlander thread started 4 years ago. It's now maybe 80% complete, at 232 pages and 6,000 posts.
This thread started only 2 days ago. It already has 3 pages and over 50 posts, yet the project won't likely even get dragged home for another couple of months. At that rate, this thread will live forever.
Of course, you do move pretty quickly, when you have time, and it's not like you have any other projects or obligations. And with global weather changes, there'll be more snow days in the future, so you'll have more time to ..... er, ah, oh my. :faint2: - Grandad

Jas: "Hi, my name is Jason and I am a school teacher."

Everyone (together): "Hi Jason"

Jas: "Well, where do I start?"

DozerII: "Usually we start with admitting we have a problem!"

Jas: "Oh, well I don't have a problem...I, umm, err..."

SigSaurP229: "It's easy once you admit it, the rest just kinda falls into place?"

Jas: "In that case, I must be in the wrong meeting? Is this teacher's anonymous?"

Grandad (in a whisper): "wow, he's got it bad!"

Watermann: "Well, it's not like he a 'glasser'"

Jbcurt00: "Jas, take a moment and tell us about your boats!"

Jas: "Um, it's kinda hard to explain...I have one that's been cut up, twice..."

DozerII: "Yes, Yes...keep going"

Jas: "There was this other, boat that was so BIG!"

The beatings will continue until morale improves...then maybe just a little while longer? I poked fun at us glassers too! I'd offer to bring the brownies; however, they might have some of that "rocky mountain high" in them!?
And in my defense, I said NOTHING about battery placement! That's at least worth some reprieve?
