My daughter named this boat for us back when we bought it. Now that the restoration is complete, it’s high time we put the vinyl on. We did registration numbers, name and haling port.....which is home since this boat is a garage dwelling trailer queen.

Since the rain has moved in and made everything muddy again, I figured I’d work on my remanufactured quadrajet. I have a moderate stumble in the low RPM range, and a major stumble when the secondaries open.

Since i I saved the oem carb I figured I’d swap the primary jets, rods, and secondary rods. The oem jets are definitely a little smaller. Also the pump lever is bent a little different. The secondary rods are the same length, just a different taper.

I also tensioned the secondary air door to one full turn. It takes a little patience to get everything lined up without bending any brass tubes.

Now that its done, I just have to wait for it stop raining. Hopefully these changes will help.

LOL I live on the ohio. It could not rain for 10 years this river is muddy. It is the debris is the issue when it rains here. At least the river isn't up where you can boat in the stadium parking lot anymore.

Wow, it’s been a long time since I posted on this thread. The end of boating season ended the way it started, rainy.
After a trip to Bald Eagle State Park in August, I started taking on a little water, mixed with a little oil sheen and my exhaust bellows blew off yet again!!
Welp it turned out I developed a small tear in my u-joint bellows. With all the debris in the lake from flooding, I’m guessing something got in there and gouged it.
Those hose clamps to secure the gen I bellows on an Alpha drive suck. That’s all I have to say about that. Obviously the gimbal bearing needed replacing.

I did learn a lesson about cheap Chinese parts that look like the real deal, are a little cheaper, but in the end aren’t worth a dime. I got the u-joint bellows and exhaust bellows from a friend, so I only needed to buy shift bellows.

Got everything completed and ran the boat until the end of the season. Exhaust bellow blew off for a third time. This time I drilled and tapped the aluminum for a small stainless screw. Instead of using bellows adhesive I used black gasket maker. The screws create a lip in which the clamp sits behind. I only installed the screws in the bottom of the horn since the bellows stretch the most when the outdrive is up. BINGO. I haven’t had a problem since.

Man, this is a great looking boat. I just re-read a bunch of your early pages to get re-familiar with it. You guys will certainly enjoy it this year. I love see the "after" the restore pics. We all spend months looking at them torn apart, and then we don't spend enough time sharing and seeing them being used as they should be. Enjoy!

Nice update . . .

The exhaust bellows flange definitely needs a ridge or something to make the bellows stay on. Iv'e never had to work on the Alpha drives, but the standard Bravo drives are the same thing and same problem. I finally switched to the 'tube' instead of the bellows.

This is what I'm doing on mine too... I read too many novels of frustration to even bother trying the exhaust bellows. I don't mind a little extra noise and its so much easier.
