Got the other side of the bulkheads glassed. Best method I have found to remove the excess CSM, (which isn't much), is to use a sliver disc on my grinder. I only need to trim the tops, and notches that receive the stringers.

Just as a tip to get smooth edges when using CSM and some cloths is to wrap a strip of plastic drop cloth around the edge once you have the cloth/mat wetted out. When the resin is hardened, just peel of the plastic and you have a smooth edge.

That sir is an awesome tip. Thank you a million. I was wondering how I was going to tackle capping this stuff. Very clever indeed!!

Updating as I go. Got close to 70 here today. FB showed me two years ago the same day I was sledding. There cheers for global warming!! Lol.

Got the stringers cleaned up and the ends soaked in resin. Stood them all up using a clamp. Took the opportunity to use a leaf blower and get the garage blown out. Amazing how much dust accumulates.

Installed the bulkheads and stringers back in the boat. Leveled everything and started some bedding before supper. I am using some 1/4" chop in my resin with cabosil to bed. Although not required, I bought 5 lbs, so what the heck. It'll make the cabosil go a little further, and add strength.

Thanks guys. Yes it was nice to work with resin outside the garage for a change.

The tips you get from other members are just awesome. One of the guys mentioned using disposable pastry bags to help force the PB under the wood when bedding.......it works like dream. I would have never thought of that on my own. Such a time and mess saver.

Thanks everyone.

Got most of the bedding completed today. The stringers follow some fairly deep strakes. In order to get the 1708 to play nice I decided to fill them with hairy PB. I used some 3/8" x 3/8" UHMW squares as filler so I don't use up so much resin. I'm using hairy PB to do all my bedding. I find it's like concrete to work with. You have to massage it a little to get the butter to the surface. I like that the hairy PB is adding additional strength. It's amazing how solid the hull feels already.

Just cracked into my second 5 gallon bucket of resin. I think I'm on a pretty good pace as far as consumption. Definitely not wasting any. I'm making sure that I have additional work laid out while I'm glassing. That way if I have resin or PB left over from what I'm working on, I don't just throw it away, I can use it on other things immediately.

Never tried that.....perhaps that could be a new sugar substitute?

While I was waiting for hairy PB to kick I cut out two pieces of deck and got them fitted. Going to be a little bit until I'm ready to glass them in, but sure was nice looking at them. Got the fuel tank out and cleaned it up while I was at it. Gelcoat and carpet glue came off with MEK and scotchbrite.

Once the hairy PB kicked I added a coat of slightly thickened resin to all my filets to smooth out the rough a little. Been over an hour and it's still wet to the touch. Hmmmm. Time to add heat, but I'm getting a little concerned. This was the first batch with a new bottle of MEKP. Im going in........
