Re: Calling All Ontario Members

Well, Parks Canada has backed off on increasing canal fees. They'll be frozen for the next 3 years. Hmmm. When's the next federal election? The bitter pills are usually swallowed early in a political term. Still no relenting or further clarification on pending changes to the hours and mechanics of locking through. - Grandad

Hi crunchnmunch, Welcome to Iboats! I'll update your info to the PDF and attach in a day or so. In the meantime, if you're puzzled about how to fix that crack in your tinnie, check the forum on boat building and restoration. You can ask questions there by starting your own thread with a picture of your boat and the crack you're trying to fix. Note that pictures are pretty much a prerequisite. - Grandad

So, Cabela's is coming to East Canuckistan. We really need a good outfitter's store. I keep hearing our neighbours to the south talking about their purchases there, so I'm looking forward to seeing the store open next year in Barrie. - Grandad

Re: Calling All Ontario Members

I finally got the retrofit splashed a week ago. Put out from a private residence in Port McNicol and took shelter from the 1 metre waves in Sandpiper Bay on Beausoleil Island, rafted together with friends. Here's a shot of the boat from our friend's private lagoon.

Yesterday, with calmer water we made it out to Giant's Tomb Island for the first time and revisited Beckwith Island where we anchored for lunch. Nice spot Here's a link to a video by someone that kinda says it all. - Grandad

Wow, nice looking boat Grandad. By the look of things I would say that the water levels have come up quite a bit. That's quite the trip from McNicol to Beckwith. I've only made it as far a Beausoleil. Such a PITA to get through lock 45.
