Re: Calling All Ontario Members

heatz1express chiming in from the south shore of Lake Simcoe (Black River). Been boating since I was old enough to sit up (more like propped up) in a cardboard box with an open lid that my parents used to sit me in in the middle of their canoe. That was in Sudbury on Lake Ramsey. My first boat was that same canoe with a 2.5 h.p. Yamaha! Did a ton of fishing out of it all over Northern Ontario It used to be all about the fishing for me but now that I am completely boat whipped I am happy to just be out on the water.
Don't have a canoe anymore but I have more then made up for it's absence. Including the kayak, paddleboat, 3 dinghies and 2 waverunners I'm up to like 13 boats now. I've got a 16ft. Peterborough pontoon w/30 h.p. Yamaha, 18 ft. Bonito center console w/115 h.p. Yamaha, 20 ft. Peterborough Express Cruiser w/305 Chev., 22.5 ft. SeaRay SRV w/350 Chev, and a 13 ft. smuggler jet boat w/ 70 hp. Nissan. Also, believe it or not I am looking to add to the fleet with the pending purchase of a 35.5 ft. cruiser. Needless to say I am going to have to sell a couple of boats this year! trailers for all, but tend to just use the trailers for launch as we are fortunate to be on the water and to have our own docks (one of the docks is a boat that I made into a dock but it is not a dock, it is a boat that works great as a dock!
My Family and I boat mainly on Lake Simcoe, but have been all up and down the T.S.W. to Georgian Bay going North and East we have gone as far as Peterborough. We fish, tube, wakeboard, cruise, overnight and entertain friends and family. More then likely you will find us in Chicken Bay.
It is a small world so I expect I will see at least some of you on the water this Summer!
Recently saw stats that showed we have several hundred thousand more boats registered in Ontario than there is in FLORIDA. on the one hand I was surprised but on the other it is no wonder with all the awesome boating opportunities here! Cheers!

Well we have likely seen you in Chicken Bay as we tend to end up there most weekends at some point. We live in Sutton but our new (to us) boat will be moored at the Beaverton Yacht club. Stop and say hi if you see us on the water.

I intend on trailering it to port bruce as well as turkey and long points once bass season opens up.

Hi Guys, Welcome to Iboats FireRob. I've added you and Heatz1express to the Ontario members' list. Heatz, I hope I chose the right boat to list. There's not enough room for all your toys to be listed; probably just enough room for them in Lake Simcoe. - Grandad

Well most of my stuff is either in my profile or in my signature. Boat generally docked at Wildwood lake near St Mary's and Stratford. We do however pull it out and tow to other locations sometimes. One of thnem being Rice Lake (generally Hastings end) Ahmic lake is another favorite with the occasional Georgian Bay thrown in.

You can add boat use (pleasure, skiing, tubing, boarding) day trips, family.
Possible meets. Campout weekend at Wildwood. We have a seasonal lot there and are there pretty much every weekend.

As a followup on my previous question about launching and parking in Barrie.
He is the answer from the Barrie Marina.

"*The South Marina Lot (south of the Marina near Centennial Park) allows for overnight trailer parking with no charges. You may park your trailer in this parking lot for as long as you would like.

Marina

The City of Barrie"

I hope to be taking advantage of these facilities every friday!

Re: Calling All Ontario Members

Sorry that I'm late to chime in, but here's my info:

Year and model of boat you currently have, its length and engine size and type (or sailboats)
1961 MFG Westfield, 1966 Starcraft Marlin, a few canoes, two vintage sailboats, a rowboat, kayaks and a newer utility boat

Your residence locality (not your street address)
Ohio / Parry Sound, Ontario

Where do you boat and when/how often?
Georgian Bay - every day of the summer. I live on a private island, so we have to boat to go anywhere.

Do you trailer boat or have a marina or cottage slip?
Our dock at the cottage (if the water is high enough that we can actually put the pole dock in this year) - when that's too full, we beach the rest.

What do you use your boat for: Fishing, skiing, travel, a day out with the kids?
Groceries, trips to town, visiting friends that live on neighboring islands, tubing and the occasional day trip

Plans & dreams for future boats and future voyages.
To get the MFG in the water for the first time in almost a decade and to probably sell the 1966 Starcraft. We have way too many boats.

Did you/do you build or rebuild your own boat?
Currently restoring the 1961 MFG and I fixed up my own 1954 Lyman runabout.

Your boating history - when you started, where, what adventures you've had.
I've been boating my whole life. I started piloting the motor boats when I was 6 years old. It's a necessity where we live in the summer. I bought my first boat for myself (a 1954 Lyman) when I was 14.

Thanks, littlerayray. It's pretty amazing except when have really rough water. Usually at least once a summer we're stuck on the island for a few days straight with no way to get off because the waves are too rough. When that happens, we just hope we have enough supplies to last us until things calm down again.

If anyone is planning a trip to Rice Lake in the near future, be careful when approaching the sunken rail bed. Buoy #T429 is missing (I have reported it to Parks Canada). This green buoy marks one side of the safe channel through the rail bed. Stay close to the remaining red buoy - hitting the rail bed is no fun
